looks like mig .
the other thing you can do if you don't have a welder .
is asemble it with hard hubber hose or cut down stainless in side .
the mark the orintation of were the bends meeting the strait perabs "A" "B" "C" etc then take it somwhere to weld .
I would suspect this is definatly the best way into a 4" system as well

Clearly mig'd.

Great do it yourself.. the different angles aren't easy to get right.. bends are simple, but there are "twists" you have to get just right. Or it won't sit right.. THat's where much of the work is.. Also, the adjustment wing on the end of the muffler takes a little bit of work also.. I should know!!!! So, in knowing how much work that really is...... GREAT JOB!

Someday I'll have what's pictured above. A full V-Band exhaust!

Nice DIY if you're happy with it. I'm happy with my SFR exhaust though. Different strokes for different folks I guess lol

Certainly MIG! and yes it did take some time to get the muffler to sit at the right angle and the right clearance under the sway bar.

Thanks everyone for the kudos!

After seeing this thread again, I can't help but to say how cool this really is. This could save a lot of people a lot of money. When I discovered my cat-back had a few holes I wish this post was around.

For those looking to use your MIG for stainless, go pick up a spool of stainless wire (and you'll have to use a CO2/Argon mix - or straight Argon). That way the weld won't ever corrode...

I didn't notice if Kyle mentioned it, but an easy way to get the alignment all right is to tack weld each joint in place under the car (might need a helper to hold everything), then take it off and do your final welds. Being comfortable, and not welding upside down will help your welds be maximum quality.

Is it possible to get at the downpipe without pulling the turbo?

Anything is possible but by the time you figure out a way to do it, you could have had the turbo off and back on already.

Anyone know where I can get the exhaust flange needed to bolt up the cat-back? I've got everything I need to build my exhaust but can't seem to find any place that sells the 4-bolt 3" flange in stainless.

I don't sorry, but another option is to cut the square flange off the end of the cat, expand and slot the cat back, and connect with with a lap joint collar like this:

The lap joint could work.. seems like it would be prone to leak though. Are the GT35 flanges the same bolt pattern?
