Anybody fit Vitesse J-pipe without removing alternator shroud?
Trying to put my Vitesse MAF kit on and running into a slight stumbling block - looks like I need to remove the plastic cooling shroud on the rear of the alternator to get the J-pipe in there ...
I was wondering if anyone has fit the J-pipe on without having to remove the shroud?
PS - I have a K27 (at present), so not sure how much less room I have over a K26.

use a hump hose, for example a 3" to 2.75" reducing hump hose. http://intakehoses.com/Merchant2/mer...gory_Code=RHH8

When I had my vitesse MAF it fit fine. You should try cutting off the hump on the shroud it gives a little more room. Also I put the silicone coupler on the turbo and then worked the j pipe into it. Hope that helps some

You should be able to get a k27 to fit by pointing the coupler up a bit. However, eliminating the hump on the shroud make everything easier. See these threads:

As mentioned, its a tight squeeze but can be done. I would grind the raised portion of the shroud off as mentioned as it makes things alot easier. It also helped for me to relocate the alternator wires to enter through the side of the shroud rather than right out the top.
The aluminum tape in this picture shows the area i ground off.

Thanks a bunch you guys, got it on and left the hump alone, but it was even more of a pain getting the hose clamp on righ tthere. I'm strongly thinking about the smaller alternator retrofit option out there when I have everything apart to replace the turbo (which at this point won't be for a while, if you;ve seen my other thread ...). Saved Tom's link above too.

i pulled my shroud and had to route the wiring to the side abit to gain clearance for the pipe. DO NOT install the coupler at an angle or it will come loose. Put the coupler on the turbo straight, clamp it and then put the J pipe in at an angle. Did this and had good luck, but the boot kept popping off w/ the boot at an angle on the front of the turbo.

Finished product, did not touch the hump, but will in the future (do something) when I upgrade the turbo.
If anyone knows of a suitable replacement for the aftermarket alarm horn, please pass it along. I want to get rid of that thing and put something up by the firewall.
