I was on another forum talking about an Integra Type R (DC2 chassis) and I stated that I feel, while the Type R is a great car for being fwd, that the price due to it being a bit rare is quite steep for what you get.
When I thought about other cars that would compare for the same price I felt even a Turbo S, stock vs stock, would be a better choice than the Type R. This is not about longevity or dependability as I'd go with the Honda hands down on that. Anyone have experience on the track with both cars, whether it be actually driving both or just running against one? Another car I thought about would be a good momentum set up Miata. Let's please not trash talk the Honda for being a Honda, it is a pretty impressive fwd without a doubt. Also, I do realize it was released in America as an Acura but that's neither here nor there. Anyways, I base this assumption on the much greater power the 951 S has over the ITR, plus the Brembos, 50/50 distribution, and being RWD. I know the ITR is a good bit lighter, but I think that the power deficit is enough to cause the 951 S to be much faster on the straights and be able to hold it's own through the corners easily enough as well.

Great car, great engine and huge aftermarket. The Type R goes for a huge premium, your better off with a GS-R. My friend has one and it's fun to drive, he ended put adding a turbo which in my opinion was a huge mistake. It was a very fun car, lightweight and high rev. In my opinion does not have the character of a 951 or 944 for that matter, but that is a moot point for some.
The only fear i would have with a Type R is the car being stolen. My friend lives in a not so great area and was woken up to 3 guys attempting to tow the car out of his driveway.

What's the power output of an ITR? I'm betting a H22 swapped ITR (a cardinal sin?) would make it a lop sided argument (meaning ITR being the better pick). Then again we aren't comparing stock vs. Stock.
I mention the H22 as this motor in a light car is an animal. My 240whp 951 had a hard time getting away from a 170whp H22 swapped EG Hatch. The car had a 70whp disadvantage, but 900lbs made that up nicely. That car was balls to the wall scary. Felt really raw. As if riding in a tin can. However, my 951 was much more refined and smoother pulling (of course). Still interesting race. It would fall maybe a car and a half back at 140mph. Only thing keeping me from one is the car is FWD. FWD = sucks!

i think for street and mountains stock V stock the honda it parks easy runs cheap i think if you see the track even twice a year the 951 with small mods so exhuast chip perhaps Maf .
good coil overs for the honda are half the price .

Well I can't give a nice answer to this because I have hated honda's since some young fella told me porsche wasa washed up thing of a car and the honda hatch is the "new" super sports car !!! On the reliability note I got a 944 I had since high school still has NEVER left me anywhere other then a flat tire or ran out of gas. I would rather ride a lawn mower then drive a honda!

My old first gen Miata with coilovers and REO1r Bridgestone's consistantly beat a "prepped ITR" on an autox course. Being that ITR's are worth so much money I would pick up either a 944 turbo or a first gen miata over the ITR. If you get bored with the Miata or 944 you can always swap in a LS1

i've always had a heart for the latest Honda Prelude. It's good looking and it's pretty refined. They should bring the car back.
