I am about 90% convinced on going this route for my track car vs screwing around with the 2.5l anymore. I want reliable power for the next 10+ years.

I’m not done with mine & I already want to build another motor & put it in my 928 S this set us is just less complicated & I can buy parts at any local parts house.

I laughed when I bought a flywheel, double roller timing chain & ignition wires & it was less than 400 from Jeggs shipped! Better yet I just bought a spare set of heads for the car for a hundred bucks on an F Body forum.

Just think no more vac or boost hoses popping off. No more W/G or tuning issues & best of all no Vettes pulling me down a straightaway priceless!

How about a set of top-of-the-line race heads, brand new, fully cnc'ed ported, fully assembled for less than $2300 for the pair!

That's it. I'm doing this conversion. This engine is great at making itself a home.

It’s ALIVE!

We got it running tonight. We ran it for a few minutes set off all the smoke alarms in the office & made the garage walls tremble. Now just some last minute items finish some wiring & the ignition panel. We should be able to make it to the Dyno on Saturday baring any unforeseen problems.

Funny side note I found out my fuel rail was missing a schrader valve & fuel damper retaining clip we blew the damper off trying to start it Sunday. I called all the parts houses & GM dealers in the area none in stock minimum 4 day ship. I went to my local muscle car dyno shop they had a LS1 fuel rail in the junk pile 40 bucks out the door. You gotta love it!

We should be able to go to the muffler shop Thursday.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I can make my 1st NASA race on the 30th at MSR Houston.

Dude... you're gonna love it. These cars rock with the LS1 engine in them.

BTW, what have you done about power brakes? (since you mentioned your NASA event)

Ill probably go to the hydro boost set up like you did but, I wont have time to install it before this event so ill have to use manual brakes. I may call you for advice on the install.

Looking factory dare I say. Thanks for that pic from the side too Rene. Don't forget to get some video once you've shaken it down.
