I got a Ford guy to give me all of the flow data for the Lightning MAF from 0v-5v

The 01+ Lightning peaks at about 1,600kg/hr. Now I just need to talk Rogue into burning me a chip to match.

I completely agree, the ARC-2 is crude at best. I was really looking forward to using my Ostrich 2.0/Maxtune - particularly after seeing the work you were doing - after I had the hardware issues with the Ostrich 1.0, but when I was able to get a vitesse maf/chipboard/injectors for $630 shipped I jumped on it and have not regretted it one bit

From what I got quickly reading the thread (I know..) at first the OP wanted to find a MAF that would work in place of the AFM with out other work..

Before this set up I dynoed about 320whp.

With this set up not chance to get to the dyno but a good friend also in the 951 communitity and STi world rode with me on a nice cold day (makes a big difference with the MAF right to the fender hole) and his experienced "butt dyno" said "man, this is 350whp easy". And he said probably closer to 370whp now that I run 20psi.

BUT, that is all not confirmed. I know before and after differences are my intake manifold is cold even after hard boost runs in cold weather and in 2nd gear the tires will break loose in 2nd even with my laggy turbo.

Again, if you want 100% out of the box plug and play and dead on tune, etc. than Vitesse/LR are your guys. For me is was a cost benefit ratio.

cost/benefit ratio is important to me as well. u think the neo is worth the extra 100 over the safc2?

No, the SAFC 2 will work just fine.

As Rouge said the SAFC2 is just fine. I only got the NEO as the guy selling it to me offered it for about the same price as the SAFC2.

I'm pretty sure they both offer the 16 points of a/f rpm adjustment and all digital unlike the ARC2.

I graphed a N/A cobra with a stock engine its amazing how close it was to the afm. Twice as close as the lightning maf. but the cobra only tops out at 350 cfm.

Or is closer to the afm readings better?

Rogue would be able to answer better but I passed onthe Cobra MAF as it looked like not much over the flow capicity of a standard MAF for our cars.

The Lightning flows I have at home, but I know the kg/hr is about 1,600 and I think it is about half that for cfm. So you are looking at about 800cfm capable for the 2001+ Lightning 90mm MAF. Like I said, I did not want to have to buy another one. However, with stock turbo and exhaust the Lightning MAF might be to far outside of the realm in matching to your set up as I read it is possible to have "too big" of a MAF. You don't want to be at full boost and redline and only seeing 3v.

True, bigger MAF without a power change will give you less resolution as you aren't using the full range of the sensor. So in theory you want your MAF to nearly max when at max power (in low temps).

If the 90mm lightning MAF isn't big enough there's always this 110mm MAF

Also, I think I still have the transfer functions for nearly every Ford MAF on my old computer from when I used to use SCT Pro Racer to tune my turbo ford escort.

awesome my theorys are correct. if i was going to run the stock setup then yes i would go with the cobra maf because i want it as close to afm as possible. Turbo hasnt come in the mail yet but going to run a garrett turbo equivalent to probably a k27/8 with chips and big pipes before and after. try to run 18-20psi so the lightning maf will prolly be better.

Nothing pretty but some asked to see my set up.

During cold months I have it like this and when hot I have a 4" flexible heat shielded cover/tube that goes over the MAF to the fender hole.
