I haven't changed anything yet but I went to start the car again and it won't start. I smell gas, so I know that its not an issue getting fuel. Must be issue with spark. Does the KLR control any of that?

The Ignition signal is sent from the DME to the KLR which in turns sends it back to the DME then it goes to the coil.

If the KLR is bad the ignition signal will not make it to the coil.

So it is possible the KLR could be bad. The starting issue is somewhat intermittent. When it does start it take a few trys. I ordered a new coil, cap, wires, plugs. Should get them on Wed or Thurs. I have the stock KLR chip but it is in a POD since I am in the middle of a move...

Default UPDATE!

Guys first off thanks so much for the help. Special thanks to John, the kit is running flawlessly.

Now to the solution.
It turns out that the distributor cap was loose on the bottom mounting point. This caused it to short out and it finally cracked the rotor and scorched it. Once I replaced thoes two parts I fired her up and finally got to enjoy my new MAF Kit.

I'm having the same problem on start up and stumbling on boost. I just changed the TPS and in April I got a new distributor cap, rotor, wires, fuel filter. Maybe I should change the ignition coil and FPR since they are over 4 years old and they ere used when they went on...

I've had this problem and it's been one of two items:

- coil was bad; would run fine until about 5lbs or so then stutter.
- dirt/oil on the MAF wire

Hope this helps, good luck!

I cleaned the MAF wire sensor with a Q tip last week and the car stumbles between 4-5K rpm over 12 psi in any gear...

Rogue ant, I didn't forget you. Thanks again for the help. LFA take off the cap and see how it looks. That's what I did and it only takes a few minutes
