Default Hokay... Tire shopping blows

I hate tire shopping ever year I have to do it.

for whatever reason, tire manufacturers aren't making 245/45R16 anymore. and I need two of em for the back. so. What other tire will work? I assume a 255/45R16 could do the trick, or maybe a 245/50R16 or 255/50R16 would be good, but throw the speedometer off a little...

I mean, what are my options? I've used Fuzions for the past 2 sets, and I'm either to get Fuzions or some ridiculously expensive competition tires with the stock size.

If you can still get the Fuzions then snap them up, they're pretty much the only thing I found when shopping at the end of last year. I like the clubsports but I'm afraid I'm going to have to ditch them sometime in the future in favor of a larger wheel just because of tire availability.

I hear ya, but I'm not a big fan of the Fuzions. I've used em twice now and I'm hoping for something different.

What other Porsche wheels fit? I'm not familiar with the offsets I can run. of course, it's a late car...

wasn't 245/50/16 the standard size for S wheels? Problem is the tire selection still sucks

You can run 17" Cup 2 wheels, or 18" twists off the 993s. You're going to want a wheel with offsets around 55. The Cup 2s come as 7s and 9s with ET55 on all four. I ran those for a few years with no issues. When you begin getting into the 40s with offsets, it starts getting tight. My current wheels have offsets of 61.

This is the reason I went to 18's, tire selection is great.

I run the narrow body 993 hollow spokes. No spacers needed, perfect fit for the late offset 951.

18x8 52 offset front, 18x10 65 offset rear.

Geoff, if you swap turbos, you are going to want more tire...

That is why I switched to 17'' 993 wheels. Damn 16'' tires keep getting harder and harder to find.

Call Tire Source in Boulder, they're great and will let you know what will work.

Unfortunately 16 inch tires aren't all that available and that's beginning to happen to 17" tires as well...

I put the Kumho Ecsta XS on my Clubsports and they are better, I think, than the Fuzions. The rears are 265/45R16 and fronts 225/50R16. They have better grip and are much quieter.

Aren't the 265's for a minimum rim width of 8.5"?
