Default WOT smell

Guys,

This is new to me. I just finished adding a small amount of fluid to the expansion tank. Now at WOT i get a whiff of antifreeze. Could it be over filled, which is causing the scent, level is right between the lines on the tank. If not i would assume there is seepage from the pressure caused at WOT from the water pump. Where are the most likely places to look. There is no white or blue smoke from the exhaust which a nice relief.

You might want to check your pressure cap, allowing the fluid to come out the overflow tube.

Don't open your filler cap when the engine is hot!

I also had similar symptoms on my 951. added coolant to the expansion and was getting coolant smell in the cabin at wot. i then pressurized the system and found a leak on the turbo coolant line and the coolant hose following the turbo thermostat.

i will check the cap. But is there a "typical" area where the car may seep.

Coolant Tank levels are VERY touchy, I run mine just above the Min mark or it will overflow when hot. The only spot I've found for common weepage is the Heater Hose at the Firewall, plenty of heat from the crossover and poor airflow back there, - cooks that hose and any leaking Coolant is vaporized before it can hit the ground!
