Advice needed on size and position of V-band clamp x-pipe to Waste Gate tie-in.
I'm modifying my exhaust system and while I'm at it I want to include a V-band connection between the WG and the X-pipe. The idea ist to leave the stock slip joint in place and use the V-band in addittion to make it easier to remove and service the system and the WG. I'm thinking it would be best to cut the short elbow going into the wg, what is the OD of this pipe?
I will be away from the car for a while and need to get the flangesa ordered.
What size v-band flanges should I buy and do you agree with putting them on the elbow piece?

I had a V-Band in that location and always have problems with small leaks. Went to this and all that went away. They also started with a V-Band and went to the flange.

Thanks for the heads up.
I have been considering putting a V-band in that location as well.
If I have problems with leaks there I will just use a v-band gasket.
I'm talking about the small pipe going to the waste gate like the one in this picture I borrowed off of eBay.

So you are going to keep the stock slip-fit flange setup on the WG elbow and add a V-band downstream of that? Not a whole lot of real estate there...
Anyway, the OD is ~1.52 right before the bend. It is expanded to 1.715" OD right before that. OD of the crossover section is ~1.57". I believe it is 16 GA.
