Guess what's in it?
I recently picked up a pristine (really, it's amazing) low mile '86 951 for a good price from a tiny used car dealer, who had no idea what it was or what it was worth.
It came with a very thick folder with apparently every service ever done, and the original window sticker no less. All service is up to date, and the belts/rollers/pump and clutch are 30 miles old.
The car is very near concour ready, but I bought it as a street car because I lost my '89 for street use- it became a track only car and I miss having an interesting street car. My DD Suburban and Lexus are Bland-o-Rama.
Anyway, back to the guessing - there are no records/receipts of any mods being performed in the otherwise extensive records, but there is a Lindsey boost enhancer visible.
I haven't taken it to a dyno, so I have no idea how much power it makes or what the tune is like, but it boosts early and holds 18 psi (stock guage) to 6200+ rpm. It feels a ton faster than my chipped/cat-less/open exhaust/race gas/fresh engine/stock turbo '89.
Any guesses?
btw, I ordered Joshuas A-tune and am waiting for it to arrive before I dig into the '86. At that time it will also get a boost gauge, AFM, and manual boost controller that I bought for it. and a 3 bar FPR is likely also going on at that time depending on what a dyno reveals.

[QUOTE=LUCKY DAVE;10707846]At recent PCA event. I haven't had time to tear into this car yet, been too busy.
Saw you car last Thursday at the cruse, I hung around to chat but couldn’t figure out who owned the car. I also met a guy with a Burgundy Convertible S2, It was good chatting with a fellow 944 owner. I have a LS6 swapped 944, I have seen a few 944 around Carlsbad/Encinitas and hope to at next gathering at Palomar Airport Road.

You should have asked around, I'm well known at pcasdr. The burgundy S2 belongs to John Ricard (owner of Black Forest).
I make it to Carlsbad cars 'n coffee only once in a while, even though my shop is just across the freeway.
Drop by a PCA AX at Qualcomm sometime. I'm at most of those, as I'm the safety chair. My track car is a glacier blue '89, #208.

Ok, looking forward to meet some PCA members.

Guess what's NOT in it.....
- trans mount bolts, three missing
- trans cooler mount bolt, one missing
- rear batwing mounts, mickey moused with zip ties
Further looking has revealed a full three inch exhaust that LOOKS strangely stock, Lindsey boost enhancer, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, a "mystery switch" in the glove box (likely to switch maps on whatever chip is in it), brand new oem half shafts, new brakes complete (steel braided lines, rotors, master cylinder, the works), new power steering system complete, and on and on. A ton of new oem stuff, half the damn car, mechanically speaking.
Like the PO stole a Porsche parts truck or something.
