Default Thief at Hershey

My son Ben and I enjoyed meeting and doing business with many of you fellow Rennlisters.

We were disappointed to discover that some of our items were stolen right off of our table.

To the guy that stole them, I hope you realize that you not only stole from me but also from my 18 year old son, who recently had a Heart transplant and he was selling these items as a way of generating revenue as he is still in recovery and not able to work.

I will pray for you.

It really sucks when someone steals from you - I hope your son can generate some money another way.

I know it is no consolation but most thieves at car events are not part of the car "community". They are outsiders who prey on the trust many of us have for other people. I doubt you find the offender here on RL.

I hope your son lives a long and happy life.

Agreed, most of us here and in other car communities that are as close knit as this one have a certain level of inherent trust and decorum present that make it run smoothly. I highly doubt anyone here was the culprit, it had to be some random outsider. Sorry to hear about it, and hope everything works out for you and your son.

The items that were taken would have had no value to a non car/Porsche person.

As a matter if fact they would not have even known what they were unless they owned one.

Thank you for your support guys.

Have to agree with Doug.
Gotta add...There are people out there that steal for the thrill of getting away with it.
Let your son know he is in our thoughts.

If they stole it to sell I suggest posting what was stolen so that we, as a community can make sure we don't happen to purchase unknowingly if possible.

Like the others before me, best wishes for your sons continued recovery.

What a scum bag, its people like this that ruin everything. I was at helping a family member who was selling at Hershey, and we left his table unattended several times, well, because there was a general atmosphere of trust.

Im a firm believer in Karma, but I've always wondered if Voo-doo really works. As a victim of theft in the past, I'd love to have a voo-doo doll of the thief made and flick it in the nuts every time I thought about it

Sorry to hear, I'd be happy to purchase any tial adapter plates from you to help your sons cause, that is if you have any left.

RETRACTION!

When I got home from work today I told Ben that I had posted this info on the forums.

He said "I forgot to tell you that I found them".

I said "where and when?"

He said he found them when we were packing up to leave and I was off retrieving the car.

He said he forgot to tell me (ugh).

He said they were under the 968 mini champ display case.

This is really odd because we had the WG plates on the far right side of the table and the 6 car display was on the far left. Somebody, probably a kid as many of them wanted to play with the models, must have put them under there.

Anyway the story had a happy ending.

Please forgive me if I upset anybody over this.

Hey man, it happens. No worries.

Heck, I sent a "Send to all" email on sub when I was in the Navy telling the crew (To the effect of):"I know my Ipod has been stolen from my rack. My name is laser-engraved on the back cover. I wish you luck if I ever catch the person responsible." It went to EVERYONE on the ship including the CO, XO, etc...

About 4hrs later I found it between my rack cushion and the rack pan itself and pretty wedged in there. Either it was returned... or we did some angles and dangles and it somehow rolled in there as I slept.

So yeah. Been there dude.
