That's probably the 128i she is referring to, it has smaller wheels and no turbos...

Well, let's see, 6 speed, massive disc brakes all around, engine has won international engine of the year award 5 straight times, and 3 straight Wards 10 best engine awards, it has huge potential for power gains over 400 hp with minor upgrades, 25 years newer, no timing belt, no distributor cap or rotor, should I keep going?

Heavier than a dead horse considering its size and engine output, torqueless engine, claustrophobic interior, dead steering feel, fat styling... but if you like it that's only what matters.

Torqueless? You've obviously never driven one, it has over 300 lb ft of torque stock! Weighs 3,373 which far less than a 335i or M3, and considered to be light by today's present day standards, has 0 boost lag, more interior room than a 951, especially in the rear, maximum torque comes in at 1,500 rpm and is linear all the way up to 6,000, has great steering response with minimal under steer, 50/50 weight distribution, and it's the same width as the 951, no "fatter" great term for cars by the way, so get all the facts before trying to attempt to make an argument....

We're just playing with ya

I would consider trading my 951 in for one too. When I get much older......

Still way too heavy for anything I would call a sportscar. And FYI turbo lag becomes a non-issue with a 3L 951 engine. Btw I don't care about modern car standards, they are all inferior to what a well-modded 951 can be.
Latest "modern sportscar" I drove was an Aston Martin V8 Vantage and its owner concluded it was a heavy useless piece of junk after I took him for a drive in my 951. Nice for catching girls and showing off, but not for driving.

Would sure enjoy your BMW as an everyday car though.

How many times it raced at LeMans?

944 is iconic sport car, bmw1 is street folklore, everybody has one, two, or seven.

I love bmw and commute in one every day, but this is no upgrade in my book. Update maybe.

Newer bmw reliability does not benefit from lack of timing belt or distributor cap, trust me. There were more bmw chain catastrophic failures in last few years than all 951 belt failures put together.

Aston Martin is great for James Bond but too big or heavy otherwise

That issue is with the N47 engine, no issues with the N54 and the timing chain, and it's not considered a "sports car", I pay only $36 more a month for it with my Geico than I did for the 951

I'm with you here Tom.
I want to buy another toy but my wife won't give me the blessing unless I get rid of one of my current cars. Well, the 951 is still in the garage.

Congrats on the new toy. Neat looking cars, good performance, and hopefully a bargain on the used market. Brand new they were IMO *way* overpriced.

I agree $40k to $45k. is a lot for a new one, but the turbo S was $50k back in 1988 when it first came out....
