What are the odds the wiper was a dealer-installed option?
Some regions, the rear wiper would have been an enticing asset for prospective buyers...PNW, NE, etc.
In SoCal where we haven't had rain since 1831...not so much.

One, it's on the factory window sticker from Porsche. Dealer add-ons are typically on the dealer invoice sheet.
Two, the cars would have to have been delivered with the hole already in the glass. Seems a lot of original non-wiper cars have smooth glass, not plugged holes.
Given that, it doesn't make much sense to me from either Porsche's or the dealer's perspective to have the dealer hassle with it.
Not sure about Porsches, but I know with other cars these days they sometimes add/swap stuff around at the port.
Usually though it's just wheels, splash guards, floor mats and stuff like that.
We seem to have identified a pretty consistent pattern of $313 Rear Wiper options with missing M425 codes. I agree with the emerging consensus that they just weren't very thorough with the build stickers.
Fwiw, my car originally came from Ft. Myers, FL.

yes 951's do not have hood stickers that outline VIN, Type, engine code, paint code and options, just want to be sure we're all clear on that. Doubt the rear wiper was dealer installed, my car POE was Charleston, SC then it went to Tulsa, OK to be sold

But I can appreciate that there's a long-standing tradition surrounding hood stickers, so... we're probably not going to change it.

Likely many/most/all of the early 89's that had the same features as the 88TS came with rear wipers, as they were generally fully optioned cars. The late 89's started losing some of these options, as the early cars were not selling well. Headlight washers were often eliminated on late 89's. Forged rods disappeared, etc...
The two 89's that I owned, VIN 144 and 503 (June and Sep 88 build dates) both had rear wipers. Neither had the option code for it, and the one window sticker that I have does not list the rear wiper as either standard equipment or as a paid option.
Agree with this - what is identified as standard equipment, standard options, and paid options are not consistent on 944 series window stickers and option code stickers.

oddjob, where can I find the build date? my vin sequence is 492, so I assume it is a later build. I do not have headlight washers, but do have the rear window wiper listed on the window sticker for $313

Mine is in the 900s with an 11/88 build, so #492 isn't terribly late. Oddjob said his #503 was 9/88, so you're right around there.
