Rear Window Wiper on 89 Turbo
Interesting conundrum Im looking at. At least interesting to me. Maybe you an shed some light.
Someone I know has a 89 944 Turbo and has the rear window wiper (425), however their build sticker does not have option code 425 on it.
From what I can tell, the option was standard on the 88 Turbo S cars, but then for 1989, the Porsche Fact Book has 425 as an option for both NA and Turbo cars.
So.....
1. Was the Rear Window Wiper standard on 89 Turbos like the 88 Turbo S cars?
2. If it was not and you had to add it ala carte for 89 Turbos, seems odd that the hood sticker would not indicate it but the car has the option nonetheless.
Few scenarios:
1. The hood sticker is incomplete and the car was ordered with it from the factory
2. The hood sticker is accurate and someone retrofitted it later (unlikely in my opinion)
3. The rear glass and rear window wiper were holdovers from 1988 and put on the car for 1989 and not charged to the buyer so they could use up all the parts. I read somewhere that 89 cars were built with some 88 leftover parts sort of like the later 968s - not sure if thats true.
Whats the most likely explanation? Thanks.

Which makes sense since it was standard on the 88 Turbos, but I have a window sticker for an 89 Turbo, and the rear window wiper is listed as an ala carte option for $313.
Hmmm...

Red1 I think Im with you. It had to be added later. The plug is there for the motor and wiper. It probably isnt that difficult to do if someone knows what they are doing.
I dont think the hood was swapped out as the hood sticker matches up everywhere else (VIN, color codes, options etc). Its just the 425 RWW thats missing on a car with the RWW installed.

I removed mine at about 60k miles in perfect working condition and would part with it for a fair price if you want it.

My 89 951 has no rear wiper (and no button in the glass). So if the rear wiper were standard you would have to option it off. I don't see an option code for that on my car's label (trunk sticker).

Welp. Got the COA. It has the rear window wiper on it. So the car has it, the COA has it, but the hood sticker doesnt have it. Im going w/the angle that the hood sticker is just effed up and the car was ordered w/the option.

I'm on board with you, OP - I have the same conundrum.
My 89 951 has the Rear Wiper but no 425 on the trunk sticker. I have no reason to believe the hatch has been swapped.
Of the 89 951 window stickers I've seen, it's not included in the Standard Equipment, but yes is a $313 option.
At first I thought perhaps it was a "forced option", but more likely it's just missing from the sticker. As are a number of other options, if you start digging.

I'm not familiar with a "hood sticker" referred to in this thread that lists VIN, options etc., please elaborate
My '89 951 has an option code trunk sticker with VIN, Type, engine code, paint code and option codes; none of the option codes are for a rear window wiper
I have the rear window wiper
My window sticker has rear window wiper listed as a $313 option

Its commonly referred to as the hood sticker because it appears on the underside of the hood of most Porsches -- 911s, Boxsters, Caymans, etc up until about 5-6yrs ago. But on the 944 its placed in the rear trunk well. Talking about the same thing though.
The option codes on the stickers of 944s are often incomplete. Worse the older the 944 is. Porsche+Audi/PCNA did not take recordkeeping too serious back then. It might be right, it might not be.
