Optimum ET for 17x8.5 wheel to fit a 255 tire?
Looking to fit a 255 on the front my 89 944TS with rolled fenders. If I buy a 17x8.5 wheel what would be the optimum offset to prevent any rubbing? I am thinking 60-65mm.

I run Boxster twists 17x8.5 50 offset with 255s on the front and they fit perfectly.
17x9.0 55 offset rears with 275s.
I'm considering selling this set of wheels for an upgrade.

Don't forget the OP has an S model with bigger brakes and larger offset 60/65mm from the factory. Personally I wouldn't mount a 255mm tyre on anything less than a 9" rim, ideally 10". In any case, there's a lot more room on the inside to stuff that extra width than on the outside. I'd stick with stick offsets.

I run 255s up front on 17x9 ET55 wheels. This is with rolled fender lips, 2.5" I.D. coilover springs and Turbo S hubs which are 3mm wider than n/a and Turbo hubs. My tires are nicely centered between the fender and the spring.
Are you still running the original springs? Those have a larger outer diameter than coilovers so could cause trouble.

I'm running Koni coil overs 400lb/f and 500lb/r. This is a dedicated DE car and I want to make sure if I mount up some 255/40/17 tires they do not rub on hard cornering. On a 17x9 wheel it sounds like 55-60et would work really well.
