Default 1986 951 need to sell

I have an original 1986 951 with just over 93k miles on it and need to sell it quickly. Currently, the car has a bad clutch slave cylinder and the alternator is going out (whines). The car is located in Ohio and is garaged.

The car will need a new timing belt (don't have a record when it was last done) and the clutch, when the car was driveable, was starting to chatter.

I'm thinking pricing it at $5k (with the stock rims installed) would help with selling it quickly but wanted to ask my fellow Rennlisters their opinion before posting it officially.

Thanks.

Derek, sad to see you have to sell your car. I'd ask $6k and be prepared to take around $5k. Is there any way you can repair the slave cylinder and get the car mobile again? I ask because it might be the difference between getting $5k or $7500. Personally, when it comes to non-mobile cars, I always make an offer like the car will never move again so I don't get burned if it comes true.

I can try to replace it and see if I can successfully bleed the system but even if I did fix it I'll still need to sell it low for a quick sale. The routine maintenance needs to be factored in, imo, even without the current issues with the car.

Phone dials, script linen seats, script door handles, non-lsd rear diff - basically, nothing interesting but it is very clean and rust free.

A clean 951 with < 100k for $5K is pretty damn interesting regardless.

Sold! Thank you, Ryan, and it was a pleasure meeting your dad and yourself today as well as selling it to an enthusiast.

Thanks Jack! That was a super smooth transaction. Far and away the most I've ever spent on a (momentarily) un drivable 944, but I have a really good feeling that this car is going to be one of the best completely unmolested 951s remaining once I run through all the maintenance!

In case anyone references this thread, jack has a bunch of nice parts remaining, at reasonable prices. I didn't see anything that wasn't nice and priced to sell. If I was more liquid now I would have tried to buy it all.

Good luck with your move!

Bilstein F/R shocks (were on a track car for one season) - $200

Rotor
Used K&N drop-in filter (looks like I had cleaned and oiled it at some point the past) - $15

If I can figure out how to box it up for shipping. I had to go pick it up from the previous owner because he wouldn't ship it.

The coil is an MSD high vibration blaster coil - pretty sure I got it from LR's site.
