Can someone with explain to me if these are real or replicas?
Someone please correct me if im wrong.
The info i got when identifiying real cups is..
-wheel spec is shown near the valve stem.
-964/965 part # stamped in the back.
-“SM” manufacturer stamp in the back.

The sizing in 17s offered by porsche were only 17x7/8/9/9.5. Is this correct? (Not 17x7.5)
And are oem cups really made in Italy?
I hope someone that is a cup wheel guru can shed some light.

These look legit. 17X7.5 +65 was the sport wheel option on 968's. I know guys run these on 964's, but not sure of spacer details. I'd think 10mm would be a good start.

I vote they are real as I have a set of the Italian made cup 2 replicas and they DO NOT have the wheel size and offset by the valve stem as these do

these are legit

cup 1's were sourced by porsche from speedline in italy

later mille miglia, another italian wheel maker, started making reps... the mm's are good reps but heavier --- although the 'real' cup 1 by speedline are hardly light for a 17

one of the improvements porsche purposely made going to the 993 gen was to have a lighter more modern (though still cast) standard wheel - the cup 2

Interesting the 8's are more expensive than the 9.5's.

I'm guessing those wheels will move for......$2750.

I just posted info on BaT and they are legit. You can run as much as a 15 mm spacer up front if you want. I run 8 & 9's on my C2 no spacers. The 8's run 16mm further out than the 7's the 7.5's run 4mm inboard.

As I stated i sold all but a couple of sets I owned for years. In refurbished condition sold them for between $3250 and $3750 for 7&9 and 7&8's the 7&8's are harder to come by and sell for more in this condition. the set I sold for $3250 was flipped by the buyer for $3900. Not sure what 7.5's will bring as they are an odd size but you have three models they work on so I expect at least close to what I sold mine for. BTW prices did not include actual shipping.

The 00's are made by Speedline. There are 7&8 sizes made by SM in Germany carrying the 01 suffix. They look identical to the 00 version from the front but look very different from the side back. I posted pics someplace of them side by side.

Anthony,

I have a set of 8 and 9s on the way for my C2 but need to get some tires. What tire sizes did you run on that setup? No issues with rubbing and the 8 ET52 wheel up front?

Have any pictures of your setup? I'd like to see how flush the wheels are with the fenders.

I normally run 18's in turbo sizes 8 & 10 with negative camber stiff suspension and RS+10mm ride height.

I have one set I use for AX. So it is not a good comparison. I am actually running 235/255's I would not run these on the street but I wanted more bite up front and less grip in the rear which works nicely for Ax but not for street driving. You could probably run 235/275 if you can find the right dia and tire.

Unfortunately this is the only picture I can locate at this time with the cup's on.

Can you run 7.5’s up front without spacers?

Yes, but...

There is a TSB that talks about 17" fitments. Porsche recommends that there be steering stops added, and also a small bit of machining to the fender/bumper joint.

I run MM's 17 x 7.5 with 205 road tires, and I do get a bit of inner fender rub at full lock. I have done the machining bit, but not the steering stops.

YMMV.

The 7.5" Cup 1s that the OP is talking about have a different offset (65) than you MMs. I would not run the OEM Cup 1 7.5" 65 offset wheels without spacers. I ran mine with a 15mm spacer. For this to work I needed to install longer wheel studs, which didn't look good with my other wheels. I soon decided to buy a pair of Cup 1 7" and put my 7.5" wheels in storage.
