Default Mr. Wolfe's Porsche Turbo-Look Build & Journal

Okay, so I have been a member for a little while now and am coming up on my 1 year anniversary of owning one of my dream cars. The Porsche 964. I decided if I found one (especially a widebody) and the price was right, I would contemplate pulling the trigger. Word got out and a friend of a friend knew a guy who had one. The guy just turned 70 and had unfortunately started suffering from some arthritis in his clutch leg. He used the car for doing his track instructing for around ~20 years. Needless to say, the car was incredibly maintained for the past 20 years. Anyways, long story short, the guy said, "if someone offered me $xxxx amount of money for this car, I would think about selling it". Well, it took a year of communicating back and forth, but I finally pulled the trigger last October/November. Fortunately for me, the car was never put on the market as it was never "officially" for sale.

The past year has been a real blast driving the car. I am learning little by little about these cars as I have been an M3 guy for the past 15 years or so. I still have my e46 M3 Competition and I think the 964 is a GREAT compliment to it. I also have an 87 BMW 325is with an M62 V8 swap.

Anyways, I figured this would be a good time to start an ongoing thread about my car and all of the little projects I get into.

I will start off with some pictures of “my other car”. This is a 2006 BMW M3 ZCP with 28k miles on the clock. Full CSL conversion from cams, to airbox, etc. Full SuperSprint exhaust, Tune, Coilover suspension, Widened stock ZCP wheels, BBK, and the mods go on for days.

The car has not been dyno’d, but I have several internet friends with the exact same mods who have. My car should be putting down 360-375 rewhp or 420-440 at the flywheel. The car hauls.

I’m still finishing up the e30, so I will just provide one picture of it. It is just about completely done aside from the bumpers. Inside the engine bay you will notice a different color. I am painting the entire car Turquoise Green from a 60’s VW.

Okay, so let’s move onto the real headliner of this thread, my 964. Here are some pictures of the car when I bought her.

This is taken from the previous owner’s house.

And when I got her safely home from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh.

Interior when I bought her.

I sold off the GT3 seats. Awesome seats, but didn’t fit my life at the moment.

One of my favorite things about the previous owner is, he kept EVERYTHING original to the car. No matter what mod was done, he has the original part, including the CUP wheels, etc.

Since owning the car, I have done quite a few mods. I may not go over them all right now, I will in time using this thread. My most recent mods have been converting to narrow body rear trailing arms to allow for my massive 18x12 and 18x9.5 Rotiform SIX wheels.

I recently just had the 255 and 305 rubber mounted.

I also shaved the front the bumper license plate indentation and I painted that this past week.

Today I decided to spray tint my rear tails that are faded and cracked. I will buy new ones in the future, but this will be a cheap fix that does look much better than it did.

I also painted the calipers Audi Nardo Gray. I would have went with a bolder color against the black wheels, but I will be Autoflexing (peelable paint) the car Miami Blue.

Here is how the car as of today. I am liking where it is going and thank you for anyone who took the time read through this thread. I hope you enjoyed!

Threads like this make me want to work on my own car. Very nicely done.

The front bumper looks so clean now... it makes me think of doing the same... I must resist...

Thanks for making a journal... it makes this board such a friendly place to hang out.

And, coincidentally, I would like to find a clean e46 m3 manual here as well. Been looking for over 5 years... nothing decent.

I get the same way. I will read through someone's journal and then find myself out in the garage getting projects done on the car. Such great motivation! I do like the bumper mod. It cleans up the front a bit, especially living in a state where we don't need front license plates.
As for clean M3's, they are getting more difficult to find. Fortunately, I bought this last one right before the prices started going through the roof on low mileage cars. You can save a fair bit of money on one if you don't mind 1 or more of the following; SMG Transmission, Convertible, Silver exterior, Gray interior, or high mileage.

Shaky thread start with all those BMW pictures (=;>), but then it ended well with that sweet wide-hipped 964.
Looks so clean and simple. Can't wait to see how things progress. Subscribed!

Awesome work. Really looking forward to the Autoflex as I’m thinking of doing the same.

Whoever resprayed portions of my car before did a poor job of it, and I’m debating full respray in stock color versus color change via Autoflex while still tracking it and full respray later. Can Autoflex full in chips and scratches, or will they be noticeable like a wrap? I just watched Tavarish get his Lamborghini coated and it looks like it can fill in.

Sorry, I have been busy. I am not sure how much it can fill in paint chips, etc. I am working on getting my car's paint as close to perfect as possible and then Autoflexing spring of 2020. I have a couple little dings in the driver door and a couple of scratches on the passenger side.

This past week I cleaned up some wiring, removed the aftermarket amp and head unit and replaced it with the Continental. I also removed the batphone and installed a standard console.

Under the seat went from:

To:

New speaker harness:

New radio harness:

The interior is coming along.

Looks so much cleaner now, nicely done... and having just read your other thread I realize how much easier my life was when I installed this headunit a while back.

My harness was already cut by the Porsche Center here and the speaker wires were sorted out back then as well. Almost plug and play... and pick up illumination from the rear defroster switch just above.

Anyway, all is working well, apart from the FM radio... which was crap no matter what head unit or antenna amp (replaced that one too with no difference).
