Good tool but it Will not replace the Hamer.
Pdt999 contains All hamer functionality.

I have a PDT999. Not cheap, but worthwhile particularly after my engine out DIY. Main uses so far: C4 bleeds, lots of system checks post engine out; stabilisation function; throttle idle / WOT open / close.

I emailed the maker and he replied saying they are no longer made. He said he is working on a new tool but it would be a while before it is ready. I got on the list at a place that sells rebuilt hammers but none available right now. So if anyone has one they would part with I would pay up for it. Thanks guys

Right now I am wrestling an airbag light that came on after my shop did some work on the AC system? Shop is going to buy a scantool that will be able to take care of the airbag light but I doubt what they buy will have the C4 bleeding capability which I will eventually need since I have a C4. So I would not mind finding a PDT999 or hammer for future needs. Thank you everyone for the help.

A decent shop should have a way to read and reset codes on any car. It is a vital tool.

If the PDT999 is no longer available, then ask about the UDT999.
The UDT is windows software and does exactly the same thing as the PDT999.
I chose UDT for the fact that hardware failure would not leave me out of a tool.
Nice side effect is that it is slightly cheaper too.
All I do is plug a cable into the car, the USB end into the laptop and 30 seconds later I'm reading codes, resettig faults, testing circuits.

The scan tool will clear the codes. Debugging if it comes back will be on you. But the 964 computer system is super rudimentary. The durametric with the right cable will do same resets, it does a couple things the scan tool doesn’t, and doesn’t do a few things the scan tool does do. I use both.
