Default Heated Seat Questions

For those of you that have heated seats in your 964’s, I want to compare notes.

I have them in my Targa and I’m assuming that turning the wheel up towards you is the highest setting?

Also how hot do the seats get? Mine get warm but I wouldn’t say they get hot even by 90’s heated seats standards. Curious what others are observing.

I know all Canadian cars had it as standard so there must be a handful here that have it.

There are several elements IIRC although very few cars I see with the heated seat option actually appear to work.

Have them in a couple of my AC cars and they work VERY well, noticeably warm! So if not yours are not up to snuff.

That’s what I wanted to know, they definitely don’t get hot. Do you know if the adjustment switch needs to be all the way up or down for high/low heat? I guess I could try both and figure it out too.

I love my heated seats they warm up pretty good, When I lived in Perris CA I never really needed to use them. A very different story in DC.

My car had them. Sports, deviated piping, full electric, and heated!

Heated seats in my 964 work perfect. They get really hot. I'd say hotter than most seats in my more modern cars.

IIRC there are 4 relays under the seat and a lot of these have a tendency to fail. Seems like some of you are lucky they work. I have seen them not function on low mile cars.

When I got my 964 in 2010 with 34k miles, neither seat heated.
Bought two relays (928.618.521.02) at $225 each, and no issues since. I can only deal with it set at 3 out of 5 after a while.... too hot.

My passenger side definitely works nicely, making wife happy. Driver's side has not worked since buying the car. I just stuck my head under the seat as much as I could to try to see what I could see, maybe the relay, and found one of the connectors was disconnected. No idea why, so I reconnected. Fingers crossed it wasn't disconnected for a reason! Seat feels warm though

Thanks for the input and the relay part numbers, greatly appreciated.

I’ll have to raise up my seats and take a peak underneath to find the relays and cables. Hopefully it’s easy enough to do without removing the seat!

Remove the seat. You don't want to do this blindly, especially since all the connectors have become brittle.

With regards to these relays that are under the seat, has anyone found a less costly alternative? Perhaps a VW or MB relay that will cost 1/3 of the Porsche taxed relay? $225 is pure theft!
