Default FVD MAF Kit on the 964

Hi,

Anyone has experience with the FVD MAF Kit on the 964?
If necessary can you replace the MAF unit?

Thanks in advance for replies,

Patrick

I'm using it. What do you mean "can you replace the MAF unit?". It's glued to air filter housing.

Thanks, are you satisfied with the kit?
Is it plug&play or do you need a specific e.g. ecu to make it work?

Cheers

I'm happy with that modification. I have small changes on my motor so they made chip to my car what included to changes.
For MAF part is totally plug and play. You have to made small changes to your ECU.

Ok, I expect the MAF itself is broken Bosch partnr: 283 151 112.
I'm not able to find a new MAF, maybe FVD upgraded it to a new part.
if by incidence you the Bosch partne used with your kit, please let me know?

thanks

To expand on this subject: Is this the best answer to the problem of our "barn door" AFMs getting old, or is there a service to have them refurbished?
My car runs on an AFM that has been repaired already, I suspect by bending the flexible arm, but can't tell since the box has been glued back together very, very well.

I just went on the FVD site to look at it and can't find it. They have the individual MAF part, I looked it up based on the Bosch part number from the video. Along with a $10k, individual throttle body kit. But that's not what's shown in the video. Anybody found it that could include the link?
Found it. They're calling it the Mass Air Kit if you're doing a search.

I’m interested in doing a MAF, but that video didn’t really help. All the things he praises I experienced by getting a custom tune. So how much is the MAF and how much is just getting a solid tune?

I tried an older Autothority MAF kit and I ended up removing it. Throttle response was improved butt dyno said increase and improved feel but gas mileage suffered for no reason using the autothority supplied chip. I had a problem with the car hunting for idle after warming up which caused the reason for removal. I found a nice custom chip with barn door did close to the same thing and in some ways better as the MAF. Enough to help improve throttle response but not quite the same as the MAF. The expense of the MAF kit at least the autothority part wasn't IMO worth it. Sadly the actual dyno pull showed no measurable gains despite butt dyno feel but a shift in power in the rpm range and actually not where I wanted it more down low than up high. I will be playing with making a custom chip for my car once I am done and if I don't see adequate gains or response improvement, I plan to use a simple inexpensive stand alone I have kicking around and see what I can get out of it once my slick top is done. I will use the 993 MAF I have left over from my track car to see how it helps. It appears the MAF they are using is the same/similar as the 993 unit. In the end you are limited by the 964 fuel injectors so only so many gains can be found. If I do the MAF stand alone route the only changes I will make is 993TT fuel injectors i have sitting on the shelf.

This said I have no idea how the FVD unit compares and autothority is no longer in business AFAIK. Although no way any mod like this will give you 50hp increase maybe 5-10 but I doubt much more.

Thanks Rhonda. Is the reason the kit includes a new airbox for new/different sensors? I, like most I assume, have the stock airbox already.
