My Maritime Blue 964 C2 - Ownership Thread
Just picked up a 1991 964 C2. California car, then Arizona, then imported to British Columbia ~10 years ago, so a nice salt/corrosion-free base to start with. Making this thread to document ownership of the car - share some photos, mods, etc. I'm pretty picky so I have a lot to do, but should be a fun journey.

Promptly removed the ugly front plate bracket and took the car for a good shakedown run, followed by coffee with some of the Porsche guys. The car feels nice and tight...and sure does turn a lot of heads.

Before going further, here are a few pics of the car exactly as I bought it. Already has coilovers, short shift kit with golden rod, Mod 7, cup pipe, RS airbox and a few things here and there, but that's just the start.

Interior work begins as parts arrive. Removed silver gauge bezels/cleaned off the gunk that held them on (didn't think it suited the car), and installed a Rennline phone mount (maybe the best mod ever for roadtrippers like me). Also swapped out a finicky window switch with a new one from Porsche.

Looks great. You're starting with more than I'll end up with. Just a note on those window switches. If another gets twitchy they can be rehabbed in about 5 minutes. Pull off the rectangular trim piece and the switch toggle will come out. Under it you'll find 2 rocking contact plates. These get a little dust/oxidation over time and a quick clean will have the switch working like new. Also - each contact plate has two identical contact surfaces - one at each end. However, only one end is used for the switch so if you reverse them you'll have a new contact surface on each side. NOTE: when you remove the toggle the contacts will fall out if you have the switch turned upside down.

Congrats. That blue 991.1 RS came for sale literally a week after I bought mine, otherwise it would be in my garage.
Shame this 964 is a repaint/salvage title, otherwise it would also be in my garage.
Enjoy her.

At the dealership now for some things. Mounted up my Cup wheels on brand new Michelin tires, plus a Carrera RS spec alignment and a good look over. A/C was described as "could be a bit cooler" which actually translates to, doesn't work at all, so we're tracing down the issue today. Another note, brake ducts have been removed - I am replacing them with the CultWerks equivalent which doesn't have exposed screw holes (it mounts from behind the bumper), should be back from paint tomorrow.
As noted above the car is a rebuilt title, and therefore required a chassis inspection as well for registration. No issues, so I should have it plated up this week. Thanks to Rennlist I was able to trace some of the history on the car and it's pretty comical why it was actually written off originally (13+ years ago). I see clean title (and sometimes even claim free) cars in WAYYY worse shape every day. I find it strange how much weight people put on the title status of a car without actually digging into the true cause, but it worked out in my favour to walk away with a tighter, better driver than most, for a nice discount over an equivalent "clean" car.
