Default Engine Upgrades UK. who today is a quality supplier

Its decision time.

I'm currently prepping my car for sale next year, ( 19 years in my ownership) i've made sure all is in good order, new tyres, drop links, rear lights, the list goes on a bit; however if I dont receive the kind of figure i'm after, my plan is to upgrade the rest of the interior in classic grey nappa, and then the engine.

So, my question, in preparing for the future as plan B, is who in the UK are the go to for engine upgrades.

Thanks.

K

I had my engine rebuilt by RPM Technik, no issues a year later ( still tweaking software mapping side, but not related to their work). Quality outfit.

I used Unit 11 in Warrington. You will find huge variations in hourly rate and build costs. Its difficult to cost as until the motor is stripped you dont know what needs to be replaced, it also depends on what uplift in power you want to achieve.

If I go down the keep route, then as those who have seen my interior will testify, I want it to be quite special. So a reasonable increase in power, 3.8 ITBs etc are all considerations.

Presently, uses no oil, pulls like the proverbial, and I always like to wander into the garage, and think; thats really mine.... So I would hope that it really doesnt need much if it gets stripped down..

Thanks all.

Only advice I can give for the 3.8 build, go with 1 company that has built a few engines and has a cohesive package on offer. My 3.8 car was touched by multiple (all independantly good) workshops under last owner's upgrade process and it's a bit of a nightmare to match up the pieces.

From what I hear, RSR (www.rsrporsche.com) in Hants and Wrightune (www.wrightune.co.uk) in Oxfordshire come highly recommended.

If (when!) I have to get my engine rebuilt, these guys will be on the shortlist: Neil Bainbridge

I had my 4.0L engine built by Neil Bainbridge at BS motorsport. You can see the process in my build thread.

They have top class facilities including an engine Dyno so everything is done in house. Although they can take a while, I have found them to be very good.

Tuthill and RPM Technik are the other shops I would recommend.

Would probably throw Ninemeister into the rebuild option mix too (done plenty of 3.8 rebuilds). Other name I've good things about being Zentrum. Maybe talk to them all and take your time checking them out.

Thanks All, appreciate the input; looks like its going to be a difficult choice and time over the lockdown to get on the phone a bit.
