Sad to say I'm removing the MAF. I've also removed my video review from YouTube.

Hi Andy
You should of done a follow up video with your concerns, so that potential buyers have all the info
I've been looking for a replacement for the barn door AFM for ages!
But there just doesn't seem to be anything plug and play off the shelf...

This is a good idea, so that people know what they're getting into

I'm removing the MAF kit and sending it back to FVD.

I’m not throwing anyone under a bus. There are good things about the MAF. Ultimately for me it just wasn’t right.

I'm not saying the MAF is bad.
But I do feel disappointed that FVD shows no concern about this issue. In the end, my car was better before, except when the pedal is floored.

As I recall there was only one pin in the Motronic box needing to be cut and a jumper wire used. I took mine to an electronics shop and had it done, with the instruction that it be reversible. It’s unfortunate that you received no support from FVD. In my case I had terrific help and felt as though they wanted to do all they could to get it working properly. I came away only disappointed with the MAF not working for me but with a good view of FVD.
My recommendation for anyone looking at a MAF kit in general to be thorough in researching and talk to other users of the particular supplier. Also, get a guarantee of being able to return the parts if it can’t be made to work properly. And don’t do anything to your Motronic that can’t be reversed.

In my opinion there is a BIG difference in customer service between Germany and the USA.

I had a few problems with parts / orders and the customer service was really bad.
Now I only do business with them if I don't find the parts somewhere else or if they are a lot cheaper (rare).

This is wise. I had a phone conversation with FVD a few hours ago, they agree to take the kit back, and they say they will put my motronic back to how it was before.
The standard AFM is already back in the car. As soon as I get my motronic back, I will test and see if everything is ok !

As in you've had good customer service from the US but bad from Germany?

I bought one of these kits second hand here in Houston:

http://www.vitesseracing.com/html/91..._air_flow.html

It has provided all of the benefits mentioned above without any of the negatives. Throttle response is much improved and drivability remained unchanged. Individual results may very but I've been very impressed with the Vitesse kit. I've had it on the car several years now.

I'd had conversations with John from Vitesse and definitely had the impression that he was knowledgable and stood behind his product. If I had my time over (and was committed to buying a MAF) I'd have bought from him. But I'll be going in a different direction now.
