The book is not perfect but I've always considered it to be a good "enthusiast companion" as the cover page states. At $20, I think it is a bargain. Here is a link on Amazon if anyone wants to read the reviews posted there:

I purchased this book back on March 2018 when I acquired my car. Taking everything written with a grain of salt and researching this forum for experience and advice. I think it's great to have. Especially for those that are getting into an aircooled Porsche for the first time.

This was a a monumental undertaking and his first attempt. Although there is a number of issues with production numbers and some other issues there is no 100% accurate source for any of this info and for the most part a great resource for those looking to learn. There is so much addressed that the average 964 owner should know in this book. It is worth $20 for the rest of the info.
It is easy to come close to production number info just subtract 0-60 from each and every vin sequence and that gets you close. Every source counts these as actual vin numbers but all were test mules as learned later when Porsche came out and stated it in Classic book #2.
