Default Exhaust or burned oil smell when heating

The past year my hardly used 91 964 has an exhaust or rather burnt oil smell in the winter when heating. The car was in Florida for several years and since the heat was never used I never noticed this, until I drove it up to Boston. Can anyone has or had the same problem? What would be the fix? Thanks for all your replies. (Further, the car was in New Jersey from new and never had any smell during winter use.)

Oil leak somewhere ending up on exhaust? Clean up underneath and look for possible leaks.

One or both of the hot air hoses that run from the heat exchanger to the chassis likely have holes in them or a hose clamp has slid off. There is probably an oil leak or weaping going on and the smoke is entering into the cabin because of the hose issue.

I had the same problem years ago, in my case it was an oil leak around the seals where the right side cam drives the power steering pump. Oil would leak and drip into the heat exchanger and then strong burnt oil smell would enter the cabin when I turned on the heat.
I fixed it myself, can be done in place, but you need to get under the car.
The seals in question are #5 and #6

Thanks a lot for your answer crg53. I have a lift and will look into the oil leak problem as well as the duct hoses.

1. check the hot air hose - as mentioned it is either degrading/has holes, or has slipped off the exchanger end or cabin end.
2. Note leaks (which might require you to clean the area/blast it and then check back later for fresh oil) and address them as you can.

#1 will be the more important piece of the smell issue entering the cabin
