My knowledge of metallurgy is about as good as the next guy, but I've always wondered if flash-freezing stressed components weakens them somehow, and if so if it's enough to ever matter.

That said, you can't argue with the results.

Have you looked at pricing for the equipment? I think you can buy a complete setup for around that amount, if not a little less.

I know this isn't my thread..and i should keep my mouth shut...but when we start talking about 4k to clean the underside of a car...knowing that if you then drive that car, it'll turn black again...and also knowing that you remove most of what Porsche put in place to protect the underside of the car...i get it if it's going to make the immediate sale of the car a little higher...i don't get it if you plan to use the car....cuz that money would be better spent elsewhere.

Fwiw, a bottle brush, simple green HD and a hose...cost about 15 dollars for the gallon of cleaner and you'll have a ton left over...for next years cleaning.

Anyway- if you troddle down that road, make sure you are there w a camera so we can see the job getting done. As much as i disagree with this stuff,,,it's definitely cool to see...

I agree that it's pricey but trying to get this result by hand requires many hours of very dirty work
and still won't be this nice
Once this is done keeping it this way is not difficult with some Simple green a brush and hose
I think the colors and contrasts of the different parts and finishes looks so cool

That's a very interesting question. I suspect those who expressed some knowledge of metallurgy (including moi) are remaining silent lest they be raked over the coals again for speaking on the topic... ;-)

Please...don't actually "know" anything. It's a forum for knuckleheads for Pete's sake...

From one knucklehead to another, did you miss the winky face semicolon at the end? Apparently real smileys are only for paying members.

I’d wager a cup of coffee that within the next twelve months someone will have added this to their shop’s capabilities somewhere closer to Conn. than West Chester, Penna. With the evolution of our hobby/business for some, this would likely be a good earner.
