Working on some options for updated rear lights
Working on a project for a customer who wants to get some updated lights on his 964.
This is a rough concept of one of the options. What do y'all think?

Nice work! I’ll be curious to see it mocked up on a car. The lines look clean. What other options are being considered? Were you able to solve your space question regarding the transformers?

I think it looks good but the main problem with the rear lights is the plastic that Porsche uses turns pink. So whatever you end up with, you definitely don't want to use the OEM Porsche plastic if you want them to stay looking nice for more than a few years.
It looks somewhat similar to the 9eleven night bloomers solution for the 964 (that allegedly will be released this year) so would be careful of that.

As for 9eleven, I am not in their league and not aiming to be. Their bloomer is a completely fabricated piece where I'm trying to create a low(er) budget modification of the existing taillights and center reflector.

Yes I am planning on addressing the color of the lenses and reflector to be red. Even the after market lens replacements from Denmark actually come in pink instead of red

Next iteration.
This makes me think that adding a strip at the top of the center reflector would look really good in combination with the taillights done this way.

Agree, I like the strip going all the way around the perimeter.

Looking forward to progress on this. What's planning to be released by 9eleven while nice looks too much like a Taycan. I feel modern lighting solution shouldn't look "too" modern b/c it takes away from the classic vibe (my opinion)
Agree with the others the full surround looks best

Not sure if this is useful for you - but I have an old set of rear reflectors and taillights so if you need something to continue your proof of concepts on, I don’t mind giving them to you. Lord knows I’ll never do anything with them.

Gunther has a nice solution. Seems a mix of factory squares and the line you have introduced would be nice.
