Default Camping

Has anyone on here taken their stock 964 camping? I’m going to Death Valley with some friends and the camp site is about 5 miles of non-paved road. Just curious about other individual’s experience taking their car camping or “offroading”.

Used to take my 964 on it's annual pilgrimage the Le Mans 24 Hours for the week for around 10 years. Would have one passenger with all other available space rammed with camping kit (including a large 12v beer cooler!). Frunk packing became a bit of a practiced art form in maximising every square inch. Somehow though there was always room for 10-15 bottles of French wine on the return home

I attempted a gravel road once in my 964. The sound of the gravel spraying off the tires onto the car had me turning around within a 1/4 mile not to mention the 27 pounds of dust collected 😎

I have a lifted 4x4 Tacoma for camping. The Porsche stays on the pavement, plus theres no room for all my camping gear in the frunk.

I love all of these stories. I will keep y'all updated with how my trip goes this weekend. This is my last time taking my car off of pavement.

I just got back from DV camping. If the camp site is Furnace Creek, I won't sweat it. If not, I probably won't take it if you care about rock chips. Your tires will pick up quite a few gravels and splash on your side fenders/doors depending how fast you go.
BUT the roads around DV are some of best driving roads in SoCal in terms of traffic and smoothness of roads, with virtually no law enforcement..

Agree. I saw this beauty at Road America a few years ago for the IMSA race weekend. Sounded great, too!
