Power string – feasibility of changing hoses and removing pump with engine in.
Hello,
Hope everyone is fine.
I am really tired of looking for leaks of power steering fluid, so I am thinking of resolving them once and for all by changing both final hoses (pressure and return), the short one that goes between the pump and the reservoir, the reservoir, and rebuilt the pump.
Questions are:
Thanks,
Hope everyone is fine.

Questions are:
- Can I change those hoses with engine in? I assume that by removing the air filter they maybe accessible, but I am not sure.
- Can I also remove the pump?
Thanks,

Agree, can be done with engine in situ. Did this myself few years back with no problem. Full fluid flush through too - couple of large 5L empty water bottles and lengths of clear pipe then new fluid pressure in, old dark fluid return out).

You can remove with engine in. Need to remove right side muffler for access to pump drive off cam rear. Need to get cam cap to cover. If you remove pump to clean up area and get rid of the power steering fluid leaks replace mechanical pump with an electrical unit. There are numerous electrical power steering pumps that you can install in the frunk and run the hoses through to the power steering rack. All is pretty easy to do. Think there are several post on Renn that address if you look.
