Advice on a 964 C4
A buddy of mine is looking at a Red (I assume Guards Red) '89 Carrera 4 with 83364 mi. It's a 1-owner car.
I'm told it's pristine (again, what I'm told). It recently had service done on the Valves, fuel lines, a/c.
I realize that there are probably a ton of other factors that go into the pricing of this car.
Any ballpark as to what it should be worth? I'm seeing pricing all over the place, when I'm looking for comps.
We are just trying to decide if it's even worth looking at because it's about an hour away.
I knew the only place to turn to would be the good guys over at the 964 Forum.
Any input would be appreciated!

It's definitely Guards Red! From the pictures, it looks to be very clean. The only thing I really notice is the center reflector and taillights look faded, but that is common with age and should not be a show-stopper. The gear **** shows wear, but so does mine, and I kind of like that.
I'm not even going to try and make a guess at pricing. BAT will show you the top-end of the market. Another good place to check for recent sales is the 964 prices thread stickied at the top of this forum. Having one-owner from new is a huge plus. I'd assume that means there is a lot of paperwork documenting the years and services. That generally makes the value go up.
It's hard to say from just a few pictures, but it presents well, in my opinion, and looks to be very close to stock. Some things to ask about would be the wear-and-tear items: clutch, brakes, suspension, gear-shift & forward-rod linkages, engine mounts... Are they original, or have they been replaced/upgraded? While the mileage doesn't necessarily dictate it needed be done, perhaps age might, so ask about whether the top-end has been re-built, as well. As a C4, are there any issues with the PDAS?
If it is only an hour away from you and it were me that was interested, I'd go look at it! If everything checks out and the price is less than 6 figures, I'd say it is a really good deal. Good luck!

Aye, first year models had the switch under the rear lid near the motor. Although I believe that changed (to interior switch) towards the end of '89, so some '89's may have received the change.

I guess Hendrik said they couldn't get the remote twisty **** into the MVP (minimum viable product) so they put it off to v1.1. Crazy that it was in the engine compartment... The manual up/down switch, in my mind, was always just a nod to avoiding traffic tickets - so the cops couldn't say you were speeding just because the wing automatically goes up at XX mph. "No no, officer. I put it up manually. I wasn't doing 60 in a 35..."

Hah! I picked up my son at school in the 964 once. The odometer wasn't working, so I had pulled it to drop off at NoHo Speedo to be repaired. Apparently, whatever signal tells the rear spoiler control unit to lower once you're no longer moving at highway speeds must be tied to having a working odo/speedo. As I pulled up to pick him up (with the spoiler still raised), my son commented, "Hey, you've been speeding."

Porsche check
When I bought mine, a 1990 c4, I had it go to the Porsche centre for an 111 point check. See

It was a good way to find out what if anything needed fixing. Costs a few bucks but I’d say well worth it
