Default C2 incoming

Back to having an AC 911. Sold my 993 in France a while back and got the 997 GT3RS to replace it. I am keeping the GT3RS (because it's amazing) and adding this C2 for daily driving. The car needs work and I plan to basically do everything "right". Some pics of current state of affairs, car has 192K km:

I am planning the following and will most certainly have tons of questions along the way

- Engine rebuild to 300hp+, stay at 3.6L (Camshaft, airbox, Hotwire, 996 GT3 oil pump, etc..)
- Gearbox rebuild and wondering if I should re-gear or not (this will be used on the road only)
- RS flywheel and clutch
- New coil overs TBD and RS arms
- RS engine and gearbox mounts
- RS brakes
- New starter and alternator
- LED lighting
- AC and ABS tune up
- RS sway bars
- RothSPort full short shifter kit
- Full repaint, probably staying with the Venitian blue original color TBD
- Interior refresh
- Rear wiper delete
- Find real Cup rims or maybe BBS

This should take a while.

Welcome back to AC-world! Looks like a nice project.

Venetian blue was not a standard color for 964s; it would've been a special order/paint-to-sample. Very rare and worth keeping IMO.

Yeah, I have been trying to figure this out and you can see quite a few 3.2 in that color but it does not look like it was part of the 964 standard thing indeed.

Very exciting Lionel!

as an FYI, I ended up going with some Rennline LED front headlights + fluted glass and just received the new 9eleven rear light kit. No report yet but curious what direction you’ll go

@J9277655 how did you end up getting rear lights without having been a client for the front lights ? I heard existing clients were getting first dibs. Hopefully I’ll be in the second batch.

curious why you didn’t go with 9Eleven for the fronts too.

That looks lovely! Great purchase. And still running the older style plates as well!
I'd be interested in your cup reps if you're selling them on, depending on price and whether shipping from France to NL isn't mental, of course...

Congrats on the purchase, nothing better than starting a rebuild and doing it all your way…love the colour. Seems in the States everyone goes for RS engine and gearbox mounts, as a newby to the scene, I was planning going down this path, my local shop advised me against it…how harsh does this really make it?

I am planning to also use RS mounts for engine and gearbox.

One of the open question I had was to re-gear or not as the gearbox will be open. So today I headed out to the place I bought it (and will do the work), they also have an RS so it was time to try both of them back to back focusing on the gearing. Conclusion, I am not going to re-gear anything at all. My C2 has the G50-03 gearbox and the gearing is quite nice for an all around use. You could argue that 3rd and 4th are a tiny bit tall. So in case these gears need to be change I may a bit shorter. The RS has a taller 1st and 2nd and this is not better for daily use. As an aside the non assisted steering of the RS is really not that convenient below 60kph and would be a massive PIA in town (I plan to use this car as my daily), no AC would also be a deal breaker in Provence and finally the buckets cannot put me in a decent position at all (I am 6'5"). It clearly need the short shift kit though as the gear level travel is huge. One less thing to worry about on the gearing

The C2 is officially mine now.... So I am now in the planning phase for all the work. One area not fully clear to me is the suspension. I plan to run the car at 964RS height, for that I guess you have some options on the upright:

- RS OEM upright
- BBi upright
- Elephant racing RS upright

I am currently planning to use RS brakes and rotors. Do they work with all the upright above ? On the BBi site they seem to imply that you need to have 993 brakes ?

I could always do a bid red brake upgrade as well but for a treat only car I am not sure this is needed.

The 964RS calipers are the same size as the 993 standard calipers up front, with built in offsets. You should have no problem using the BBI uprights, and no need for the weighty big reds. If you’re running at or below RS ride height, BBI’s are awesome. I look forward to following this build.

OK thanks I had missed the fact that 964RS calipers are similar to 993.... As for the BBi they seem to be 2x the price of the Elephant RS upright. The part itself looks maybe nicer but it's going to be sort of hidden
