3 cars - pick 2 to keep
I generally don't like threads like this because people sound like it's a horrible problem to have. I'll say right now - aside from working for it, I realize how lucky and fortunate many of us are to be in a place in our lives where we can conern ourselves with such things as cars - first word problems, for sure. Being the car nuts that you all are, I expect I'm in good company when it comes to my following questions.
That said - I have 3 cars. a GT350R, RS America and 91 C2 tip (ugly project). Due to space, time, energy and of course money - I feel compelled to get rid of one or at least put one (the 91) on the back burner for a while. The one I know I want to keep is the RSA. In a perfrect world, I'd just keep them all as they are great trifecta of a modern performance car, a rolling resto RS America and a complete project car for a RS 3.8 tribute. If the RSA wouldn't have entered the picture, I would forge ahead with the GT350R and the 91 RS 3.8 trib, no problem...it would have been easier But I enjoy the RSA and don't want to neglect anything it needs.
Status of cars and desires:
- The RSA has some miles on it and is so very original - it is going to need some monetary love over the next few years...and I cant leave stuff alone so the while-you're-in-theres are going to be murder. I'm excited about this - having collected some parts to build an engine to a 3.8 for the 91, I could apply to this car instead, easily.
- The 91 C2 Tip is a horrible car - a worthy candidate for the RS 3.8ish tribute that I have been collecting parts for for so long. I have tons of Porsche sheetmetal, skirts, flares, bumper, sunroof delete...to build this car. I have some of the manual conversion parts.
- GT305R - It's just done. I only need to wash this thing and drive it but my indecision on my direction has m ekeeping some miles of it in anticipation of possibly selling it.
Options:
A - Sell the 91 and the parts I've collected - retaining the 3.8 parts to build a meaner RS America
B - Sell GT350R - frees up space and money for building both 964s - Will I be happy with 2 of the same car?
C - Sell just the engine from the 91 and put the car aside for a while. I have parts to build another engine (I have access to a case when I need it) and I could care less about number matching there.
I know opinions are just that as this is very subjective.

Hmmm... This is tough because money is always a consideration and given the current state of the air cooled Porsche world it's hard to say to yourself I'll just get another one later. Though, if the 91 is a SERIOUS project then I would be more inclined to make my RSA perfection, sell all the parts I didn't need and the 91. So Option A for me. The 350R is a really fun car to knock around and to track if you're into that plus it gives you a clear option for experience between the two. Once you get the RSA to where you like it you can decide if you want another P car project or just buy a good driver. My $.02 which ain't worth much my wife reminds me often.

Option A. Glad you're keeping the RSA. I've driven a GT350 and enjoyed it. It's nice having a more modern car with a very analog feel that you know is just going to continue to run without much thought. But for me, the 91 sounds like such a project that it wouldn't be as enjoyable for me, personally. I'd also consider having just the RSA and something like an E39 M5 or E92 M3. That is just the BMW guy in me coming out. I really like the build quality in those cars and you could get a very mint one with the proceeds from the GT350.

Do you need the money you'd get from selling the 91 right now?
If storage space isn't an issue, what's the rush? You can always sell something later if the need crops up.

extra money would reduce the long stares from the wife as ups rolls up each day with parts for the RSA . Space is a challenge but maybe doable. The option of just selling the motor gives me funds to freely go at the RSA and I could put the 91 on a cart at the back of the garage so I guess that’s an option.

the 350 fits behind the rsa but only if I put the car on a lift. Well / I can push the 91 all the way back and then they all fit then nothing fits on the lift and I have no space in my work area.

Honestly what someone did to that blue car has really hurt its resale value, especially compared to what it would be worth if you fixed it up.
Sell the motor, then when you have time, do the bodywork and build up a 3.8 for it.

I'm not a huge fan of redundancy, so I would s sell the 91, put the parts aside to build the RSA, and drive the wheels off of the GT350R. The 350 really is a great all around car that works on track ond can be used as an abrasive DD. (I'm also a huge fan of the GT350R)

On any forum you will get such a diverse opinion about this type of question that it will not provide any meaningful information. With that said my 2 cents which is now worth 1 cent.
I like projects. Your RSA looks perfect in my eyes so I would leave it alone and enjoy in its current state. If you like working on projects then sell the GT. If you enjoy owning rare cars then sell the GT.👍
But the RSA is a keeper. And thanks for sharing you journey.

keep the gt 350 to satisfy your need of speed, sell the 91 and continue to make the RSA perfect it's a good therapy in years to come and when she's done get rid of the Stang

i'd sell the tip and bring the RSA up to the standard you want. you'd be left with the RSA and the GT - appearing to be your storage limit - and two unique driving experiences. the GT can always be flipped for something later that sparks your interest more.
