Default Slate Gray Metallic in 1990?

The historians say not available. So why do I own one?

can someone explain this please. Slate Gray Metallic was available in 1989 and 1991 as a special color but not 1990. So why is my 1990 Slate Gray Mettalic. Their must be an easy explanation for this

I think the earlier color was stone grey metallic. I have seen it right beside my slate grey car and stone is a bit lighter.

^ thank you for that. We can safely say Slate Gray Metallic was offered as a special color in 1990.

…and the original color should be on your sticker (23F), or at least as ‚custom color‘.

P.S.. According to this, slate grey ("schiefer metallic") was available from 1990-1992 and switch to water-based in 1990.

I had a '90 Schiefer. Perfect road trip car, looked awesome color dirty or clean.
