Angry My common DIY thoughts

  • Hrm... is this plastic connector stubborn because I'm missing some tab I need to pinch, is it just the 34 years since it was installed, or is it just Porsche?
  • Hrm... I must have the grip strength of a 2 year old because these rubber/plastic/hose connectors just do not want to come off. I know I shouldn't use those metal pliers but...
  • OUCH! F*** you car!
  • Hrm... it's going to take me at least 5 hours just to get to that spot because I have to remove 15 parts. While I'm there, some might need replacing... should I order them before I begin? But what if I don't need them, what a waste of time.
  • How did I remove this if it won't go back in?
  • Tool is too long.
  • Tool is too short.
  • Looking at car: You are gorgeous. Working on car: You are so difficult!

Those thoughts are G-rated, compared to mine.

Haha.. too funny. My common one is, “oh, where’d that nut just go. <one hour later> Found it! Now what was that 20min job I was going to do on this?”

A valve adjustment takes almost a whole day. Remove rear wheels, remove cat, remove secondary muffler, remove parts of blower, maybe loosen power steering pump, remove heat shields, remove about 30 nuts and washers on 4 valve covers, adjust valves (which takes about 1.5 hours for me), Replace valve cover gaskets, new nuts and washers. Now put it all back together and hope there are no leaks. And your supposed to do this every 15K.

You could own a Ferrari of the same vintage and you would need to drop the whole engine!

Everything on a 964 is easy compared to doing a 944 turbo clutch. 2 days to remove 4 turbo/exhaust bolts. Then comes the real work .....
