Default Replacement part record price?

I was exploring power steering system parts (reservoir cap) at: https://www.pelicanparts.com/search/?q=+928+347+925

when the last entry caught my eye: https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info2/92834792501.htm

$5 vs $14,332.50 for a plastic screw cap.

They probably have one in stock world wide with no interest in restocking. Porsche always raises the prices when inventory is low. Although it is a simple part you can buy most anywhere and used on countless vehicles of the era. You will be surprised on how much "P" tax there can be on parts.

Short block just barely wins at $14,768.26. Add a few hundred more if you like donating to Pelican’s board of directors…

High list is just really a place holder most likely. They do it so no one will actually buy it. You seem the same on ebay, as a way to keep the listings.

I believe that's a keeper. It's the yellow top to the 964 power steering fluid reservoir, right?

I think I will print a bunch of reservoir caps on my 3D printer and sell them for only $9,999.
