Default 964 horn sound

Hi Everyone,

I have a request for anyone who has a 964 with the stock, working high and low-note horns.

I’ve only had my 964 for a few years, however, I swear that only the high note horn is working. Unfortunately, I have nothing to compare it to. I would be grateful if a few of you could record (and post!) a short blast of your stock horns, so I can compare your horn sound with mine. Thanks in advance!

I replaced the original twin horns with Euro horns - higher pitch. Much more 'alerting'!

I thought perhaps only my high was working, but here's the horn with only the high:

This is how mine sounds, which sounds like both are working:

I would unplug one at a time to see if both are working also you can have someone up front to listen and put their hand over the horns to see if they are working

I just repaired my low tone horn by renewing the solder joint and it works great. What a difference it made. Very easy to do.

Ok I need to read the manual again, are there two different horn tones? The 964 horn is the most anemic I’ve ever heard, it can’t be heard by others driving a modern insulated car with radio on.

There are 2 different tones and horns. I replaced mine with factory horns and one of them gets distorted when the car warms up. Porsche dealer won't warranty the horn unless I let them inspect it to confirm there's no installation error. Inspection costs - $150 - $300 estimated. Horn cost - about $75. End result = new horn at full retail price from Porsche dealer is effectively sold w/o warranty.

The second video posted above by @forbiddenbeat shows the correct "toot" when both horns are working.

See horn repair here, it's quite easy to do this:
