We have a second RWB build going on locally. He will actually be doing 2 in one event. The last one was one of the most beautiful black paint jobs I had seen but the car ended up getting beaten on. It was a 3.2 made to look like a 964. This one is on a 993. I am doing something similar with the Blue meanie project. Having some issues which is slowing it down but we will tune it for multiple power settings but each one will focus on reliability and drivability. I see a lot of young new owners going for max power and the cars just become unenjoyable to drive IMO.

Drive them like you stole them and always in good health.

Not to throw fuel on the fire but an observation after leaving Werks. I met several who had done their own custom backdates and there were a few companies there building and selling a 964 backdate of their own. IMO a nicer build than some using steal parts copying the factory look vs their own imagination. They are chopping up 10-12 a year and have been doing so for a while. It seems there are numerous companies using the 964 coupe as their platform of choice and a few who were sourcing 964 engines for their builds. It appears the company building electric versions is having fire issues.

The numbers keep dwindling.😢

GRP just got in a DLS. $3.5 million! For that there would probably be 20+ different cars I’d take over this one.

My source says they’re still dismantling 1-2 cars a week and they’re sourcing ROW’s too.

I do admit the DLS is a very different animal and worthy of a few 964's but very different from most of the ordinary singers, which seem to be coming up for sale recently. I could buy quite a collection of very nice cars and then some for that much.

Been reading through the thread, and I find all the opinions & thoughts about Singer rather fascinating. And I thought I add my two cents to it all. I m a massive fan of Air Cooled Porsche's, and the newer models just don't interest me. I just find the older classic shapes so utterly beautiful, but I m not going to pretend that I know anything of engines, torque, brakes and so on. I just appreciate the aesthetics of it all. At the same time, I like to play around, and the idea of having some modern technology, and creating something quite unique, really appeals to me. And that is where Restomods/Backdates hit the spot for me.

I have followed Porsche/Singer/Backdates/Restomods/Alfaholics and a few others for a few years, but for various reasons it was just never an option or opportunity. Yet Times changed, and I signed on the dotted line for a SInger Classic, end of 2020. And 3 and half years later, the Project has almost been completed. Does 3 and a half years feel long.......Sure it does. But I knew when I signed on the dotted line, that it would take a while. The journey throughout has been absolute fun, and I m looking forward to driving a car, that in its format, is not seen to often. And yes, it will be driven. Including a roadtrip from West Coast to East Coast, through the Alps ...... and taking my kids to school, and having my English Bull Terrier sit next to me.

Is it overkill, to do this all in a Singer, ............ maybe, maybe not. Yet, are we not only trying to achieve one thing? Just to enjoy the journey of achieving your dream, what ever that might be. And yes, it started a hobby, and I now have a few Classic Porsche's, including two other Restomods, and I m also waiting on a Singer Turbo.

I m just having fun for now.....can't take them with me anyhow.

Saw on Instagram this place that only sells 964 parts. Most of the stockpile comes from Singer.

I talk to Mike regularly and have picked up several bits and pieces for my 964 there. He’s a great resource and at least the parts pulled off the future singers are available for those of us keeping our cars mostly original.

Autobahn Dismantling

Have purchased parts from Mike for a while, highly recommended.

While this below is a *beautiful* car, I recognise nothing specific to the 964.
I want a *964*, not a project that vaguely looks like a 964, and drives nothing like one (admittedly, much better, but that's moot).
