Default Fully Restored 964 Carrera 2 Targa by TAG Motorsports!

A rejuvenated, classic Porsche. What’s not to love? Please say hello to this beautiful 1992 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Targa (964), fully restored and brought back to life! This 964 Targa was one of our most recent long term projects, spanning almost a full year from start to finish. What started out as a typical 30+ year old Porsche left our shop feeling like a brand new car. This 964 Targa underwent a laundry list of restoration, including a fully restored interior, brand new sound system, and a plethora of upgrades to truly make it one of a kind.

Our client first purchased this 964 Targa off Bring A Trailer in the summer of 2022 in New York. The car started out with Midnight Blue paint over a Light Grey leather interior and 17” Cup-style wheels. As we began brainstorming ideas on the build, we wanted to keep the same paint color but change up things around it. New wheels were a must and we had to add a new suspension system to match. Our client wanted to take it a step further and fully overhaul the motor, interior, and sound system as well.

We commissioned numerous brands in order to bring this 964 Targa back to life, including BBS Wheels, H&R Springs, Brembo Brakes, Fabspeed Motorsport, and Tarrett Engineering. The final result? We’ll just let the photos speak for themselves . Listed below are the highlighted upgrades for this build, but be sure to click HERE for the FULL gallery and upgrade list. Enjoy!

18" BBS Wheels E88

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S Tires (F: 215/40ZR18 | R: 255/35ZR18)

H&R Deep Coilover Kit

Tarrett Engineering Suspension Upgrades (Bushings, Tie Rods, Drop Links, Front Sway Bar, Rear Sway Bar, Spring Plates, Camber Plates, Monoball Bearing Kit)

Engine / Performance:

Complete Motor Rebuild by European Motorsports

9Eleven Headlights by dR Design

dR Design"Bloomer" LED Tail Lights

New Front and Rear OEM Euro Bumpers

Wow, love it! Digging the interior – frankly I love stuff like this a lot more than a Singer. My car has a similar look but in white and original black interior.

I talked to my audio guy about a sub in the frunk (my stereo upgrade sounds incredible but lacks bass) and he said it wouldn't do anything. Curious if that sub actually delivers bass in the cabin, especially when the targa top is off.

The audio shop that did this install actually ported the pox into the cabin. It does sound pretty good!

I’m curious how they ported it into the cabin.

I love the build, it looks amazing and very well done.

Any chance it will be at any of the upcoming events and or maybe Rancho Santa Fe cars and coffee?

Isn't the primary sound system in the back of these cars

The car has been to RSF cars and coffee a few times. Will be there again in April and May. Will also be at Air/Water in Orange County in late April. @TAGMotorsports killed it with this one.

I know what I am about to say is blasphemy and the ranting of a very poor man who simply cannot stroke a multi million cheque for a proper Porsche ...........

BUT

I would take the TAG restoration over a Singer.

To me a Singer is no longer a Porsche.

I think, if you're not a die-hard purist, then pretty much anything goes. Cars can be an extention of a personality and are a form of expression and art. It's all subjective so I say, whatever you like is fine with me. I like Singers for many reasons but there are many cars I would rather choose/own, for the money. The moment we start saying "THIS" is the only way it should be, we know we are getting old lol.

Never said "THIS" is the only way.

I have a problem with Singer because IMHO the only reason they need to destroy 964s in order to "retro mod" a 964 to the point only the bare tub is kept, is because they will not take the extra step of being a true manufacturer. They need the VIN that comes with the 964 tub.

Look at RUF they are a true manufacturer and make their own tubs along with their own VIN for each car ....... "With a carbon fiber monocoque completely designed and manufactured by RUF, the CTR is a tribute to the legendary “Yellow Bird”, the first RUF biturbo coupé that amazed the world of super sports cars 30 years ago."

We appreciate the kind words! Whether it's a fully restoration like we did or a Singer, both are great in their own right and both types can appeal to the true enthusiasts. Heck, we wouldn't mind having a Singer in our fleet
