Default My Engine Is Finally Coming Back Together -- And I Know It's Too Clean

Although not completely finished, by next week it should be operational.

Ok...this is going to sound sarcastic; but, honestly, it's not meant to be. I'm new to this whole Porsche experience and am more of a DIYTHYWMUPSETFIR (do it yourself then have your wife make you pay someone else to fix it right) than a DIY'er; but, doing the mental math on your list and just guessing what those components cost (not even sure what 1/2 of them are) I'm thinking you've easily 2x'd or 3x'd what I paid for mine.

In terms of aesthetics, my personal opinion is that everything after the 964’s slowly started losing the qualities that made them stand out from every other car with an X or Z on their badge. But as for mechanics, are the 964's that superior to the newer models that you wouldn't want to sink those parts into something newer? Maybe I’m grossly overestimating here; but, heck...based on your list and other posts, maybe even a brand-spankin’ new GT or Turbo? I always assumed that newer models are more advanced, thus, less upgrades needed?

Just curious…

Okay, Robert, I think I'm missing something here. Is there some greater purpose meant for this car? Or are you just some sort of Porsche-super-mad scientist-genius type? I mean, I just got done posting a few hours ago about how proud I was of my "upgrade". I painted my hubs with spray paint. You bonded gold onto carbon fiber to create some sort of space age engine heat shield. I just have to laugh. What a diverse community we have here. Bravo ol' chap! I'm glad we've got guys like you around here to see just how far we can go with these cars!

There has been a technology testing/advancement purpose to what has been done. And, in truth, very little of it has been fun. The good news, however, is much of what is on this old 964 has found and will continue to find it way onto present and future vehicles.

Good job! Did you go on a dyno, any results?

To splattergasted, about the fact "Why did you do that?", it's always the same story, may be the perfect answer is "because I wanted it!".
Remember when I posted that thread:
http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...d.php?t=146552 it was the same thing. Why do you invest so much time and money on such an old car? Because it's my pleasure. Of course we can always go to a newer model, and actually, with the amount of money I put on my car each month, I could have a leasing on a new GT3 which will allways be faster than my old 964! But there's no way, that's not my pleasure, my pleasure is work and work again on that old lady, and for sure I'm loosing a lot of money, but will I loose more than what I would loose on a new car? That's not sure... and at least, to me, the pleasure is higher on the older one

Robert, I really like the airbox that you have installed, do you mind if I ask where can get one the same?
