Robert,

If it hasn't been asked before....why Humpty Dumpty?

Humpty Dumpty in history was an old English Canon.......so how come the name?

If it's been said before, a link will be enough humiliation...............

thanks

Kevin.

Too complicated. Nothing to do with a wall.

Robert,

Just something that's been bothering me, Carbon fibre as we all see in F1 and GP races tends to disintegrate, or fracture into small shards, it's behaviour is dependant upon the angle of impact as such, does this not make it a poor choice for a fuel cell as compared to plastics which exhibit better deformation without splitting/collapsing....Or is it an impact resistance being greater for carbon fibre issue that swayed you in this direction?

Kevin:

That is a problem with carbon fiber. That is why, to quote the above:

a. Carbon Fiber/Kevlar® Enclosure

b. Carbon Fiber/Kevlar® Access Plate

Though the Kevlar® adds a bit of weight, it provides the shatter protection.

With the mold made, the engineering done, other such fuel cells could be sold for approximately $11,000 - $12,000 each -- which, by the way, is on a par with a factory cell for an ALMS/ELMS race car which cells weighs almost twice as much and uses a FT3 bladder. If the FT3.5 bladder in this cell was replaced by an FT3 unit (the requirement in ALMS, ELMS, GrandAm), the cost would be reduced by more than $1000 each. On the other hand, if you added the dry-break system used in ALMS, ELMS and GrandAm, the cost would be increased by approximately $1000. And, yes, for club racing, you can buy cells for many thousand less and, for that purpose, they might, depending upon your needs and wants, be reasonably acceptable.
