Default Humpty Dumpty Update

The prototype of the 5 HP gadget has been completed. The two titanium brackets for the ABS pump have been installed. The specially made -16 aluminum oil fitting has been installed.

A revised aluminum mold for the frame of the carbon fiber hood should be cut within two more weeks.

So am I! The quest for the perfect hood sometimes makes the Illiad and the Odyssey seem JV!!

Yes, a brilliant designer, without asking, thought that weight could be reduced a bit more by modifications to the original Porsche design. Unfortunately, while this worked as to mass reduction, it did not work as to certain clearances.

P.S. But the hood was beautiful and weighed less than 8 pounds ("production" versions should weigh less once we decide how many lawyers of carbon may be removed).

Robert - Can you either post the items with prices here or mail them to me at julianthompson@btinternet.com at your earliest convenience.

Thanks, Ju.

ah - that was similar to what i thought happened - don't want a 911R deformation at speed as well -
The quest will be complete soon

All of my C/F bits have been sold and will be on there way to texas soon - along with a number of other parts. The car needs to be stock perfect first - then.....
Mutt is getting ready to fit the body panels soon - it "might" be 90% complete by the end of Q1

Since most of the car is exotic material...why don't you have a carbon fiber roof clip made for the car. I think even at a very high price you could sell them. Bonding it onto the car shouldn't be a major drama. I can't remember if you've got a roll bar in there, but obviously that'd be a must.

actually the America GS is a convertible - so no roof clip - it does have a removable hardtop (with sunroof) however but that is a factory werks item.
no roll bar as it is not intended for the track
my 2 cents - bob please correct if wrong

Four comments:

1. Yes, The America GS 3.8 Hardtop Roadster is a cabriolet (manually operated) with a Porsche factory built removable hardtop (with an electric sunroof and a heated rear windscreen).

2. It does, however, have a special Porsche factory built roll bar covered in the America GS purple leather and embossed with the Porsche script.

3. Notwithstanding the cabriolet top issue, we could build composite roofs for other cars.

4. Unfortunately, however, I do not think enough Porsche owners would pay the price (thousands of dollars each -- even if a charge for engineering and the mold was not levied) for a proper job to make it worth the effort

One side note -- while the 5 HP gadget is completed, I have sent it back to manufacturing to remove another 75 grams to bring it down to a total of approximately 175 grams.

A glimpse of the anti roll bar. Also, the purple zipper in the cabriolet top window.
