'91 - 3.6 momentary stalling
I have a 91 3.6 engine transplanted into my '81 SC. I've started having an intermitent stalling problem. While I'm driving I'll lose power, but just for what feels like half a second. It slams me forward pretty good in the lower gears. It's just for a split second then it catches. There's no rough running before or after. Today at 7:00 am I drove 25 minutes round trip to drop my son off at swim team. Ran great no issues. At 2:00 ( Dry day 50 degrees car in the garage) I went for a drive. I couldn't get 100 yards without it happening. I didn't think I'd make it home. It starts fine and idles fine. Before today it happened maybe 3 times in 25 miles and then not again for 100 miles. Hell I drove the 30 miles to work in a massive downpour..no issue.
Where should I start.

There are many potential causes. I would suggest a search on stalling and hesitation.
Hmm, I don't know what they do with the engine management system when they transplant the engine.

Dear Jeff,
I would start with the DME/Fuel pump relay and its connections. I have no idea where and what type of relay you installed.
A failing relay or faulty connections on the relay can actually shut off the DME and then power it up again just as quickly. A fuel injection shut off is instant. A fuel pump shut off is smoother.
The other puppy that can also do this is the flywheel sensor. No signal DME instantly shuts the fuel injectors and engine off. Signal back, DME says "okay fuel injectors can work again".
Ciao,
Adrian.

CHT sensor? not dure if it's the same on a 3.6, but identical description you've given is classic symptom for Cyliner Head Temp Sensor failure for a 3.2.....
Did you locate source of problem?

Stalling on my 964, that is ,...starting fine, idle fine but would not free rev or run over 1800 rpm. Checked micro switch for idle circuit, it was stuck closed as the throttle lever moved off of it, it remained closed still sending its data that it was closed. It was just dirty, cleaned with contact cleaner runs fine. easist fix ever. Ben
