ABS - beeping is too loud!
All-
The ABS brain is trying to tell me something.
I'm not sure what it is saying, but it saying it with plenty of volume!!
(the ABS is attached to a '92 C2 Cab).
This is one of those problems that many of you have probably seen, so before diving into the manuals, researching the 964 Owners Companion, and putting the Cab up on the lift, I thought I would query here to tap the vast wisdom of the Sages...
Problem Description- the ABS has some sort of fault, lights up the bulb in the odometer, lights up the warning signal (!), then creates a beep sequence that can wake the dead (and be heard over my too-loud stereo).
The problem is intermittent, someimtes not happening for weeks, seems to happen more often on cold days (all two of cold days that we have here) and also is more prevelant when riding over the Bot-dots lane markers. But, it can have the fault even when on non-bumpy roads.
Also- does not necessarily happen first thing out of the driveway.
My guess is that it is a loose wire or dirty connector.
Has anyone here had this type problem? If so, what are the first 10 areas to look for the fault?
Or, should I just trade it in on the 996 I have been wanting...
Look forward to the suggestions!
P.S. (thanks oh Wise Ones)

Which warning lights specifically does it light? It could be as simple as low brake fluid. Note the exact warning lights then check the owner's manual. I've had something that sounds similar happen because the fluid level was too low.

Brian-
Thanks for the suggestion. Sometimes the simplest answer is the correct one!
To answer your question--- the warning light is the one that reads "ANTI LOCK".
I did check the brake fluid, level is at the MAX mark. Should be OK.
I guess the switch inside the brake reservoir should be checked- to make sure it is not bad.
But first would like to know if the ANTI LOCK light is related to fluid level.
Anyone know the answer to that?
Anyway- thanks for the suggestion Brian.
Patrick.

Burning Brakes
Could be the brake pressure accumulator. If the high-pressure brake system can not build up enough pressure in the system then these lights and the beep can happen. My C4 did that right after I got the car. It mostly happens when the car has not been driven for a while but also happened to mine when it was colder out. I don'r recall it being a very expensive fixm but it was 8 years ago and I could be wrong.
