P.S. anyone who calls it a skirt car isn't secure in their manhood. I guess that some need 400 hp to compensate for shortcomings in other areas.

Having owned a Boxster S, a 964 Turbo and a 964 cup, I can say the Boxster is a far superior daily driver than any 964. But at the track, it does not even come close to the 964 in terms of enjoyment. For a weekend cruiser, topless boxster driving is nice, but I'd still take the 964 (turbo even better).
If you do get the boxster, the 3.2L is way nicer than than the 2.7L. The extra torque makes the 3.2 much more usable around town. Also, look for a 2002+ as they did away with the shiny button crap which makes the entire interior look way better IMO.

Boxter is like coke-light. It can't shake it's girly image if it wants to. So Coca Cola introduced Coke "Zero" and Porsche the Cayman. And all was well again
and no i don't have 400hp either

I kinda know what you mean... Society tells you that a boxster is a chick car(which i dont agree with). A couple years ago I was looking at boxsters and all my friends from all over the US kept making chick references(almost worse than when I bought an Audi TT ) I'd still buy one given the chance but if I had to pick that or the 964, it would be a no brainer. The 964 has so much more soul than the boxster and I feel like it connects to the driver much better

I guess that I was raised on ragtops. My first car was a convertible, and after an assortment of Triumphs, my first Porsche was a 914 (another heavily debated car). The Boxster reminds me very much of the 914 in all of the good ways. IMHO there's nothing better than putting the top down on those gorgeous days and heading out somewhere. One of the things that I like most about the Boxster over all of the other convertibles is how quiet the cockpit is (top down) at high speeds. At 70+ you can still have a normal conversation.

I went from a 964 C2 to a Boxster S, and the Boxster is MUCH better as a daily or semi-daily driver. A functioning A/C alone gives the edge to the Boxster if you live somewhere with hot summers. I live in Texas, and the 964 would often sit in the garage during the summers.
Beyond that, it comes down to personal preference. I miss the sound and feel of the 964, but the Boxster handles much better while also riding smoother. On track, I prefer the 964; for autocross the Boxster is balanced and fun to drive whereas the 964 was the king of understeer.

I went through a bad boxster-phase when I was thinking of trading in the 964 and test-drove a few 3.2s. Lovely cars and I'd have one as a daily driver probably if I could afford both. In the end I decided that I couldn't be without a 911. And the fact that the 964 replacement has 'turbo' on the back is even better . Stick with a 911 I'd say.
