If you are with car people you say Porscha... if you are with non car people you say Porsh. If you say Porscha around non car people they think you are taking about a stripper.

This is pretty easy... why did it take 5 pages?

Gives new meaning to, "Porscha got a top end rebuild."

Exactly... frequently I say, "I don't think that's all stock. There are some non-OE parts in there for sure!"

Well this has been a long but interesting read - don't know how I have managed to get along so long without this info -
But - I did date Porscha when I was in high school - and that is something to hang your hat on -
But lately I think PORCH as in (pôrch, pōrch) works well in the south - and besides that after I work on her - I tend to sit in heer and drink a beer enjoying the moment - kind of like a porch -
BUT REALLY FOLKS - here is the nut in a shell-
Pronunciation of "Porsche"
"Porsche", a German proper name, is pronounced correctly as, PORSH-uh (IPA /ˈpɔʁʃə/) ().
Some tend to over-vocalize the e, which results in Por-SCHA (/pɔɹˈʃʌ/). Others mistakenly treat the e as silent, a pronunciation rule that applies to some words in English and French, but not in German, producing the monosyllabic, porsh (/pɔɹʃ/).

Thus you have the correct pronunciation of "Porsche"- or is that really "PORCH"

Merry Christmas - now can we close this bag of goodies -

My wife says "Por-SHIE" when she is in a good mood.

When I spend to much time in the garage, some how it sounds more like "piece of crap volkswagen".

I personally use PORESH-eh.

And when the car is running poorly or my projects are not proceeding as planned it becomes "piece of crap volkswagan" and "damn Germans"...no offense (I'm part German myself.)

When I'm having problems I'm partial to P.J. O'Rourke's derogatory slur: "*** engine **** slot car"

Or, Porscha suffered a catastrophic shaft failure.

That P.J.... too bad we couldn't get other useful slipped-wrench euphemisms/rejoinders/apropos out of him re the brand.
Thanks for the chuckle.

And I forget if it was P.J or Jenks who said...."When it comes to Porsches, Coupes are for drivers, Cabs are for posers"..... (just stirring things up on a cold day)

Notice it says "German way". I for one am not German.

Regardless of correct pronunciation, I choose NOT to pronounce it correctly for the simple fact that it generally comes across as a bit pretentious.
