Default Just installed the factory roof bar

Getting her ready for le mans we still have the thermostat insert to replace and the spoiler gearbox flex shaft is toast, and i could not find a replacement. Well, if anyone's getting there, i hope i'll see you there.

wow
I have been looking for a set of factory targa bars about 8 years. Very hard to find. They look great on your targa. Thanks for sharing.

I had to get my hands on two sets to get all the parts, that being said i'm checking if i can rebuild the missing parts and find a way to reproduce the rubber parts to fit the system.

The second set even have the ski holders, but i'm in belgium will probably be hard to ship

Default My 1990 CS Targa

Wow, I just noticed that I have the car for 3 years now and never posted in this thread. Well here we go.
I bought the car 3 years ago with 78k miles on BaT for $31,964 (Yeah, those were the days)
This is a 1990 C2 in silver/grey with tiptronic.(I would appreciate it if anyone could tell me what this color is called)
The seller assured me that the car wasn't dripping any oil - year right

So let's see what I did since I bought her:
  • replaced every single oil line and the fuel lines to the tune of $6k (she's still dripping)
  • replaced all speakers (all were rotten)
  • installed heated 997 seats
  • installed a 996/986 steering wheel
  • replaced the Reno 2 radio with a modern Blaupunkt SQR 46 + Alpine amp
  • replaced the useless H5 lights with LED projectors (with fluted lenses)
  • when my spoiler controller failed and nobody could fix it, designed and built my own spoiler controller, which works fine for the last 2 years
  • replaced the sun visors with chopped sun visors that don't intrude as much
  • had to replace the whole rear light assembly due to fading.
  • and while I was at it, de-ambered the car and replaced all rear lamps with LEDs
  • replaced the D90 with 16" Cups
  • installed flippable vent windows from a 72 Targa

other things that broke along the way and had to be replaced:
  • signal stack (blinker)
  • fan on the back of the climate control unit
  • two actuators for the A/C flaps
  • the motor for blower in the back for the heater
  • the wire to open the engine lid was corroded and snapped

the next big project will be to replace the black Targa bar with a brushed aluminum bar that I sourced from from the same 72 Targa, where the vent windows came from

@Hatzenbach Your car's color is called Stone Gray. Very nice color, good to see how people mod and make these cars their own. Happy driving!

Default Test fit for le mans

Well, we had a bad thermostat, spent 3 days to get to the insert but all is good now, the spoiler is the last notable thing on the todo list, the sharkfin has popped the top clip and epoxy is curing.

So here is the test fit, 2 bikes and a soft roof box to bring light space wasting things.

Our only things left to address will be addressed on the camping with parts delivered once on the way. So will probably be done directly on the camping spot.

And part of the test was : checking we can get the roof on and off again (the answer is : it's not easy)

That looks fantastic. Is that a factory rack mount or did you fab something?

That's the eckel factory roof rack, had to find 2 set to get all the parts together lots of little parts getting lost in existing sets but it's rock solid and we now have to find how to stay under the 35 kg load

I was reminded of how rare these cars are this past weekend. I attended an event that had over 100 Porsches. I saw 12 Targas but only 1 964 Targa. There were other cars there that numbered only 1 in the crowd - only 1 Carrera GT. Only 1 RWB modded 911. Lots of beautiful Porsches.
