Bought my first 964! Pics!
Hello gang,
I've been quietly shopping for a 964 Targa while trying to sell my '77 Targa 3.2 conversion. No luck yet on selling the '77, but I came across a '90 C2 Targa that fit exactly what I've been looking for and didn't want to risk it being gone by the time I sold my '77. Soooo.....I went ahead and grabbed it! It has an RSA suspension, Eibach springs, lowered and aligned by Andial, Ruf wheels, 993 exhaust, rebuilt engine (by Porsche under "goodwill" arrangement) to resolve leaky head issue. Lightened flywheel installed during rebuild. The seller is a 40+ year PCA member and has been just great to deal with. He has owned the car for 10 yrs.
The car is in Reno, so my wife and I will be flying out, picking it up, and driving it cross country back to South Bend, IN. We're going to make a vacation out of it and do the Badlands, Mt. Rushmore, Crazyhorse, Devil's Tower, etc. The car passed a PPI with flying colors, except for a couple of torn CV boots which have now been replaced.
I have pulled together a list of a few Porsche service points along our route (I-80, then cutting up to I-90 for a while, then back down to 80 from IA to IN) just in case any problems crop up, but I would appreciate any suggestions of reputable shops on this route to add to my list.
Anyway, on to the good part - pictures!

Congratulations!! Great looking car with good provenance and some very nice mods. That car should feel very peppy with the 993 exhaust and light flywheel. A fly and drive is a fun way to buy a car, a little excitement and anxiety thrown in. Have a fun drive back and post some pics when you're done.

Wow, what an excellent welcome to the forum - thanks for the compliments, guys! I've owned 4 911's, and although I'm sure the 964 will feel familiar, I know it is a more complex beast. I still hope to do as much maintenance/repair myself as possible. The Pelican forum has been great resource for help on my 911's, but from what i can tell, Rennlist 964 forum is the place to be for our cars!

Zen,
The seller told me that one of the prior two owners of the car was so frustrated with the leaking cylinder head problem that he hounded Porsche with letters and phone calls demanding that they make it right and Porsche finally capitulated and rebuilt the motor. I'll see if I can get any more details on the story when we pickup the car.
