Default Gauge Question

Is there a trick to getting the gauges back in?
The gaskets never seem to go in nicely.
Thanks!

A light film of diluted liquid dish washing detergent and water wiped on by finger or a light coat of bar soap seems to work.

Thanks, I've tried rubbing alcohol with only limited success. The really tight fitting gauge still mashes the gasket.
