Default Superb 964 Speaker Mounting

After struggling all weekend trying to install some 6.5" speakers, I finally came up with some great sound.

Initially I installed the speakers with a spacer in the standard door fitment on top of the door trim. This looked terrible and sounded terrible with no bass, no mid and no highs.

Eventually I pulled off the door trim and saw the perfect speaker mounting platform right in the interior door metal. The area was flat with plenty of room and even pre-drilled holes! Unfortunately the OEM holes didn't match my speakers but a few drilled holes later and it was perfect. I ripped off the OEM speaker plastic water guards and the door trim just sits over the speaker with about 1/2" clearance to the speaker behind. Perfect. I just need to mount a grille on the door trim.

The sound is significantly better and louder!

I did the same thing on mine with Infinity 6.5 refs and it sounds great! I tried cutting out the water guards to fit the speakers, but could never make it work.
